Whew!
I took the plunge today and am now one of the newest DVC members!!
I've spent alot of time mulling this whole thing over the past month. Even made a special trip to Chicago just to visit the Doorway to Dreams store. I've looked at hundreds of scenarios with my finances and gone back and forth whether or not to have the commitment.
I've never regretted how much $ I spent on my Disney vacations over the years, including concierge sometimes. The last time at the Polynesian though just left an unease in my gut afterwords (but enjoyed it still the same). Worst part is rates will only keep getting higher and completely price me out of it. Same time the Wilderness Lodge & Animal Kingdom Lodge rates will get higher and how long will it be before they are priced out of my budget? I love a deluxe but they are just getting sooo expensive. I think this was the biggest factor in buying! I'll get to stay in a deluxe every single time!!
Now, let's hope I don't get that buyers remorse others have posted about. Especially when I have to fork over the balance due in 30 days!

Even after I book our normal vacations each year I get this sinking feeling, my family and I really enjoy our vacations, we can afford them (I save all year so it can be paid in full) and we always have a great time. I guess it's just that you are there for says 8 days and then it's over and your $5000 is gone and you have to start your saving all over again, who knows. Anyhow, I am very happy to say that after I made my purchase Monday 160 points at AKV I am still thrilled!!!!
I haven't for one moment doubted my decision and I am sooooooo excited that we are now set until 2013 when I will probably have to add on a few more points and that doesn't even bother me. I have run the numbers every which way and all I can tell you is that once I saw that we could have easily paid for a 160 point contract just with our last 4 vacations I knew this club was for us. I have already booked SSR for 10/8 - 10/12 using our developer points, we have accumulated enough Southwest airlines credits for 3 free roundtrip tickets, and we will use our $500 disney dream reward dollars for food and other needs/wants. So in the end our October trip is not going to cost us anything! Bottom line is I am just thrilled to no end with our decision!
