Has anyone viewed the Illuminations at Epcot from a boat on the lake and if so was it worth it?

We did it last summer and enjoyed it a lot. We actually shared the cost with some others. I booked it at the 90 day mark.(well, Dreams Unlimited booked it!). Then we had friends from home decide they were going to be in WDW at the same time and would like to share. And some folks from the dis boards also were included. It was great fun. Capt. Mike gave us a terrific tour with some great info. Sitting in the boat, nice and comfy sure was nicer than waiting an hour or so to keep your spot next to a fence!! Is it worth it? Yes. Especially if you want to share the expense with some others. That way, we were only paying $40. But, it can be very difficult to book.

Yes, it is worth it. You see the show from a different view point. We shared a cruise with a family from the UK and arranged it all through the Dis.

Most Definitely!!! We did it last year and it is a must do again this August(Got the 90 day advance marked on all my calendars!!)All my family enjoyed it-even my 19yo son! This year Dh even said to order the food package add-on :Pinkbounc

Go for it-you won't regret it::yes::

We did it this past February. Although we had very good weather for our trip, this evening was particularly cold. We sat on the boat under warm blankets and swapped WDW stories with the boat's captain. Then as the clock struckk 9....we were sitting on the "Front Row" for illuminations. We enjoyed the experience very much.

I've read such good things about the boat cruise and we'd like to try to book it for our upcoming trip in early December. How many fit on a boat? I'd like to share if possible to meet other disers! There are 4 adults in our party and two kids (7 & 5).

Is there a place to read more information about possible add-ons like food??

Last year we had dinner at Rose and Crown. We had a 7:00 PS and waited until 8:00 to be seated. Our server said she would take us to the patio for viewing after our meal. However, service was very very slow and our meals came out just in time for Illuminations to start. We left our food, went to the patio and it was soooooo jammed that the kids could not see. So, having the convenience of paying and eating and seeing Illuminations sounds like a deal to me LOL!

Sorry to ask such basic questions. Thanks for any input:Pinkbounc

Does anyone know the cost and is it per hour or per person or where to find this information. It sounds like a great plan - we usually find a spot to view but like the others said you have to stand around for an hour to keep your spot.

I called 2 years ago at exactly 6:59am and was lucky enough to reserve the one and only boat, the Breathless, for our EPCOT Illuminations viewing. That boat always gets front and center.

2 years ago it was $175 and seats 6 of 7, there were 6 of us.
There is a great article about it on Deb's WDWIG site. It is a speed boat. No food or drink allowed on this nice boat though.

When we went in February it cost $120 (in addition, we gave a $40 tip to the captain). You can take from 1 to 10 passengers (same price regardless of number of passengers).

Phone 1-(407) WDW-PLAY for information about booking the illuminations cruises. They leave from Swan and Dolphin, Boarwalk or Beach Club.

Enjoy!
