We were at WDW in September and we read that there was a malfunction (explosion?) during preparations for the show, of the propane barge used in the middle of the lagoon for Illuminations. We did notice when we saw Illuminations while there that it was not used, but did not know why and did not read about it online until we returned. Has anyone noticed or heard if it has been repaired and is back in service yet?

As of 10 days ago it was not in service. Our cruise captain had no information on when it might be back.

Thanks for the quick reply. I remember reading about a "loud boom" during the afternoon that was heard by people shopping in WS, then it was not in use. I am sorry that it has taken so long for it to be repaired or replaced. It happened the day of the night we planned to see Illuminations after dinner at Biergarten. We noticed that night that it was missing, but didn't know why. I guess it must have required major repairs or replacement. I'm just glad that the report said that no one was injured. Here's hoping that it's back in service by the time we go back in January...

It may be that they have been required to develop a better barge and/or procedures before putting it back in service.
