My dad was diagnosed 3 years ago with peripheral neuropathy. (It often causes numbness and pain in your hands and feet. People typically describe the pain of peripheral neuropathy as tingling or burning, like that of your foot falling asleep. Peripheral neuropathy is caused by nerve damage and can result from such problems as traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic problems and exposure to toxins.) We were informed that he would not be able to walk in 5 years and could eventually become a victim to this disease.
We, as a family, decided that the disease could not slow our family down and started planning a vacation.
In early June of 2009 we went to Disney World!
We went during my birthday and it was the vacation of a lifetime. Not once did I think, 'Wow... This is the last time my dad will walk down Main Street U.S.A. with me...' We had so much fun that the thought of my dad passing soon faded into nothingness!
