Hi everyone!
I want to start off by thanksing you all for all the questions you have answered already! Today I made the hotel reservation and called my wedding planner with the number (err.. left a voicemail.. but I thnk that's ok!) and so we are BOOKED!
Yay!
We are having an escape wedding and if it was up to me it would just be us and a few friends. Family is not liking that idea and insisting on coming.
So we're probably going to have all of the 18 guests.
How I will choose among the few friends that can come... no clue!
Anyways, without further ado, my planning journal!
The Cast:
The Bride: (me!)
My name is Mariana and I am 21 years old. I was born in Uruguay but grew up in Vienna, Austria. Vienna is my home and I miss it so much!
My first Disney expirience was Disneyland, Paris when I was 7. I LOVED it!
When I was 18 I felt God calling me to go to Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. It was my first time in the states EVER and there was a lot of culture shock!
My major at Southeastern was Children's Ministries.
After my sophomore year I moved to Canada (my family had since been transferred here) to prepare for Orthognatic Surgery. After a year of x-rays, braces adjusting and whatnot I had the surgery and now I'm stil here recovering and applying for the K-1 Fiancee Visa with my fiancee!
I love kids more than anything and I'm currently working as a nanny and as the children's ministry director of my church.
It's been a crazy year but I'm excited to see what God has in store for the future!
The Groom:
Kenny is simply amazing! He was born in the U.S. but spent 10 years in Japan as a Military brat and is half Korean (He's VERY handsome!).
He graduated from Southeastern University with a degree in Pastoral Ministries in 2005 (he is 25) and is now halfway through his Master's of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.
He loves computers, math, and all that nerdy stuff.
About us:
We met on September 11th 2004, my freshman year at Southeastern.
I was hanging out at a friends dorm and watching her get ready for a party.
She didn't know the birthday boy and was only going to keep another friend company (friend #2 was dating the birthday boy's friend). Now she didn't want to be the third wheel so dhe asked me to come along. I'm not a party crasher and hesitated but Jenny (friend #1) really didn't want to be the only person who had never met the birthday boy. So I went!
The birthday boy took our party crashing well. It turns out it was the greatest guy on earth- Kenny!
To this day Kenny claims I'm his ultimate birthday present.
We really hit it off that night and people talked about hooking us up but I've been on a no-date policy.. since forever! And Kenny was happy being single.
We talked occasionally and Kenny had a crush on me but I didn't know!
I think I had a crush on him too but didn't realze it!
Then close to his graduation we started talking more and more!
And it was just like, "where have you been all my life?!"
He finally told me he liked me on the 05/05/05.
Hence why our wedding date is the 08/08/08! We're wierd like that!
Unfortunatley our relationship was long distance from the start! All sorts of countries as I tend to hop around and different time zones. We've made it with only one small breakup in between though!
I am so in love with this man and cannot wait to be his wife!
There is no engagement story yet. There is the day we decided we were getting married when I was visiting in Kntucky but as for the "big" proposal story, that will only happen when I finally pick out my ring! I'm insanely picky! I want no diamonds!
The details:
As of right now we are booked for Sea Breeze Point on August 8th.
I'm thinking that we might have an informal reception dinner at Ohanas (hula dancing in weddng dress!
) but I'm still deciding.
Everything is up in the air really because we need to undergo the whole K-1 Fiancee Visa process. It's very stressful and expensive and we haven't even officially started!
Hopefully it will all work out and we can get married on our date!
