If you've stayed in a Treehouse Villa

I'm wondering how many stairs there are up to the villa. Do you know how many they have with ramps? My mom has trouble with her hip and I have trouble with my knees. We can do stairs, but it looks like there might be a lot at THV.

I think ours had 16 or 17 steps, with a landing about half-way up. I also seem to remember seeing somewhere that there are 4 HA treehouses that have ramps.

not sure how many have ramps, but I would request one if you are afraid of stairs. They have varying amounts of stairs, depending on the terrain around them. Some have 20 steps with a landing halfway, ours was about 12 steps without a landing......which I think would be one of the shorter ones.

I'd say we also had about a dozen steps, no landing.

I would rent a handicap accessiable THV the ramps would be much easier to climb. They are way longer but not steep and would be very easy to walk up.

I too would suggest a handicap room if you are set on staying there. We loved the THV when we stayed there but I think with your situation I would consider other options. Everything you do will require walking and driving. Plus the inside will require steep stairs between floors.

I take my dad to WDW every year for quite some time. He has limited mobility and must use an ECV. We rent the ECV from one of the local companies and I highly recommend them. The company will deliver it to your resort and pick it up when your vacation is over. The nice thing is, you have it for getting to and from the parks, restaurants, DTD...everywhere. Mind you, we usually stay in the monorail resorts, but the buses do have handicap capabilities.

Might be worth considering sharing one with your mom. There are many companies in Orlando that offer these services. You can check out the handicap thread for more info. Folks have been super helpful with advice for me over the years.
