If you're not shy... what size pants are you and how much do you weigh?

:confused3 This whole thread has me confused. It seems at 5'6", 132 pounds I should be in a size 6, yet I'm a 10. Maybe I need to start buying more expensive jeans

where do you usually shop? i think that makes a huge difference.

i don't know my exact weight, but i'm between 140-145, 5' 3 1/2", size 8 jeans from gap (i am size 8-10 pants depending on the store). i carry my weight in my waistline--no butt or hips.

I'm 36 years old, 5'3", 113 lbs. and wear a size 2.

I agree, I think it depends on where you shop. If I try to buy jeans in Hollister I would be a size 5, if I buy jeans in Old Navy I'm a size 2. Guess where I shop ;) lol

I think this is true.... the more expensive brands do vanity sizing. If I shop @ certain stores my size 12 can turn into an 8 very fast.

Yet the size 12 dress I wore when I was 120 in 1992 still is too tight on my DD who is 5'2" and 115 and usually wears a 4. :confused3

I have a dress that was my mothers from 1965 that is a size 10. She was 5'6 and 100lbs when she wore this dress. She is now 145 and SOOO happy that she still wears a size 10... I don't have the heart to tell her. ;)

I usually shop at Kohl's. I do have some jeans I bought in Macy's a few years ago that are a size 8 - but they barely fit. I guess I'm just a big old pear!

I am 5'4", weigh about 160-165 and wear a 10P pants/skirt, a medium or large top, and a size 12 dress. I am very dense/thick/muscular; i.e., not much jiggly fat except a bit on my tummy left over from my pregnancy.

I have found that I take an even smaller pants size in Kohl's house brands (sometimes an 8P, but a 10P is now too big) than I do in the clothes I buy in Lord & Taylor (my favorite department store!).

Isn't it interesting how the same weights/heights can be completely different sizes just based on body type?!

I'm 5' 7", 138lbs and a size 2 or 4, or very occasionally a size 6, if the brand runs small. I wear mostly smalls and some Mediums in tops. The thing I hate is that at least in women's clothes, there seems to be no real standards as far as what something should measure to be this or that size! Each company makes their own measurements for sizes! It's maddening! :headache: lol

My jeans come from Catos and are in the $20 range.
This is a site where you put in your height and weight and you will see what other women look like with your info. As I posted, I am 54 yo, 5'4" tall, weigh 125, and wear sizes 4-6. My bust is on the large side while my hips are on the slim side and my stomach is flat. Someone else my size may be built the opposite.
Anyway, here's the site. It's an eye opener:

I am 5'11" and weigh 190lbs right now (trying to lose a few lbs). I wear a 12 or 14 Tall pant it just depends on the brand. I prefer my jeans snug. I have a wide pelvis so I can only wear jeans that stretch so I can get a pair that fit my waist without the lovely gaps.

The smallest I have worn at my height was an 8. I was around 135-140lbs. I would like to get down to a 10 but my pelvis got wider during my pregnancy so I'm not sure it is even possible anymore :confused3

Ya, Judy, I am not sure why you are not in a 8. I have seen pics of you and you are very lean.

Because I'm a few pounds less than you (and same height) and I am in a size 6 comfortably. I could probably wear a 4. I buy Faded Glory at WalMart, I buy Levis and Lees from Kohl's and I buy the Sweetheart jeans from Old Navy. So all different brands. AND none are pricey at all.

I have found that sizing can vary by brand, but I don't think price has anything to do with it. With my Levi's, I'll usually grab the smaller size first because its been my experience that they run big. With True Religions (which are expensive) I know to try on my regular size first because they usually fit best. With another brand, I gave up because I always had to size up and they never fit right. The worst pants I ever bought as far as sizing were a pair of Dockers I bought for $15. They were a 4 and by the end of the day they were falling off of me. This was at a time when I was losing weight and had just starting buying 4s so there was no way they should have been that big on me.

I think it has more to do with the material and the cut of the pants than anything else.

This is totally true! The most expensive pair of pants I own are Banana Republics (Ok, so those are kinda pricey!) but those are 4's, I have a 2 in cheapo forever21 jeans. It really just depends upon the cut/style. Heck, come to think of it, I have Gap jeans in a couple different sizes too...so even different styles in the SAME brands fit differently! Oiy.

It can even depend on wash and material. I have two other pairs of jeans that are the same brand, style and size. I bought them at the same time. Unfortunately I only tried on the lighter ones because I thought they would be the same. One is darker and made with a different blend of materials. That pair has never fit as well as the other pair.

I am 5'2", 105 pounds. I wear a size 2/4 and x-small/small/medium (depending on the brand).

I have weighed up to 180 pounds and then I was a 12.

I agree in that it varies by brand. I usually wear jeans from American Eagle because they fit me best, a 2 Short is perfect on me. But I got a Burberry trench coat for graduation and that's a US size 6. At Old Navy or Gap, I'm a size 0. Lol, it's crazy!

Yeah it definitely depends on cut/style.

Most of my jeans are from American Eagle. In original boot cut, I wear a 0. But in slim boot cut, I wear a 2. The original boot cut jeans have a higher rise and a little bigger cut. The slim boot jeans are a lower rise and are supposed to be a slimmer fit but for me, that means I need a bigger size.

I don't wear anything over a 2 in any brand i've tried lately.

5'3" and between 145-150 lbs. I wear between a 10 and a 12. I have a huge butt and a small waist. Lucky me.

For tops, I wear smalls and mediums.

You sound like a scaled up version of my wife, (height and weight). I finally convinced her to try on some curvy jeans and she went from 14 to 10-12. Next time you go shopping, try a pair on, some times you have to look or go to the misses section. Your DH will be amazed at the difference in the fit.

That's my build as well, and I've gotten to like it. The good part is that my abs are getting visible, and I am not a twig.
