What shoes would you recommend for a 73 yo first-timer touring the World?

when we took my mil to disney with us........We took her to the Reebock and rockport store near our home....and she LOVED them......she was close to 85 on her first trip with us......and her feet were very happy.....She got two more pair of the Reebock sneakers.......one black and one white......

I am knocking on the 60 door and I love mine too .......or I put on my LL Bean sandals........very happy feet

New Balance sneakers. They work for me at the parks.

At the resort and pool, Teva Mush flip-flops.

:goodvibes :yay: :thumbsup2

Shoe brands are not age specific. You should be looking for shoes that fit your feet best, not shoes that fit somebody else's feet.

Best approach is to go to one of those athletic shoe stores in every mall and try on several different brands and styles. Do this later in the day, not first thing in the morning, when your feet have stretched/widened out. When you find something that feels good on your feet as soon as you put them on, buy them. Actually, buy two pairs so you can alternate them during your visit. Before you go, wear both pair several days so they get broken-in.

Have fun!

I'm late 50's and my feet our my babies and I then to like them to be happy. Needless to say, after 38 some trips, my feet seem to like a pair of 99 cent flip flops bought years ago and to switch of, a pair of Route 66 K-mart suede slip ons. We live our life 8-10 hours a day in work shoes and we're always happy and comfortable, if you're not used to wearing tennis shoes or the like, don't try to blow your bucks on a expensive pair and think you'll be happy in WDW. Your feet are you friends, what they like and want is what fits them to a tee for an eight hour period. Throw in some Florida heat, sweat and constant walking and they better be happy or they will rebel. When they are tired, we relax them, we rub Absorbine Jr. on them after a shower at night and take multiple breaks during the day. Happy feet are a blessing in WDW, treat them kindly.

Just make sure your shoes are not brand new 'stiff' when you go - walk around the mall, neighborhood, etc before you leave to make sure they are comfy & proven to you that they'll be comfortable for you for the length of time you will be wearing them.

I have used a pedometer & average 7-8 miles a day at WDW

I recommend taking an extra fresh pr of socks with you each day in your backpack/purse to change 1/2 way thru the day. When feet perspire & get hot spots, blister will happen quickly. Dry socks will help prevent that from happening.

Also alternate with a different pr of shoes/sandals the next day. Your feet will love you for that

(Take along some moleskin just in case)

When you get back to your room - stand in the tub with COLD water covering your feet (for 5-10 min :)

Enjoy your trip!

A lot of the older ladies like SAS shoes. They are really padded inside and have good support. A friend (80) who is diabetic says that is the only brand her doctor will let her wear.

Easy spirit sneakers. I tried EVERY brand imaginable before I found these. I always had a ton of blisters. Last trip, no blisters!
