Real life update!

We got Disney Mail today!

Not the Disney Mail that has to do with vacations, but at least Disney Mail!
When I got home from school today, Tom handed me a package from D23!

I didn't know what to expect first, but then I thought maybe another D23 magazine, but it was very light, so we proceeded to open the package.

I nearly fell over backwards, laughing when I saw that there were only three items in the package!

A letter, my renewal pin

and my new membership card!

What a waste of space, and money for postage! :rotfl2:
Now I know why they charge about as much in postage as the membership costs!

I have been a charter member and it feels like a special treat whenever one of the magazines arrives here. Plus they always include a special little treat!

So, how has everyone's week started?
I started mine with a course, which kept us in school until 5pm! :scared1: NO fun! :lmao: But it can only become better from here on!

I started my week with an exam! Totally unprepared, but I know my worst marks in this class will be discarded, so not that worried.

I have wanted to join D23 for a while now, but I'm still not sure about committing to the initial subscription cost...I used to be subscribed to Orlando Attractions, but it's the shipping I have to pay that is stopping me from renewing that.

Hi Karin,
It seems more often than not when I order things online companies go way overboard on the box size. I'm with you seems like such a waste. My week so far so good, the weather in Atlanta is BEAUTIFUL, 5 stars I can't complain about that. I find people are much nicer when the weather is nice too. Have a great week.

And continuing the week of woes !!I am stuck at work till midnight !! My co worker had worked since 9 a.m and was exhausted so I said I'd stay till midnight so she could leave !!! I am sooooo ready for bed and that ain't gonna happen for a few hours !!!

Yay for Disney Mail, always nice to get something Disney in the post :) I know what you mean about packaging. I ordered a t shirt and it came in this big box and I thought what a waste, why not use one of those jiffy bags :confused3

Starting a week with an exam? :sad2: Not nice! Good to know that your worst mark will be discarded!

I got my charter membership for D23 as a birthday present from Tom. I did not mind the actual cost of the membership, but postage to Europe is about the same as the cost for the membership. :scared1:
That's one of the reasons I don't order from the Disneystore. Even though it is so tempting, but postage usually doubles the bill and then there is still tax to pay on it! No thanks! :lmao:

Yeah for good weather! We had rain yesterday and it was cool(ish) but today it is nice and sunny again! I am so looking forward to some sun and summer! :cloud9:
And you are definitely right on people's mood in good weather! :thumbsup2 ;)

Oh Rosie, I am so sorry you have to work so much! But you are just the best standing in for your co worker!
Hope you can get in a few hours of good night's sleep and that tomorrow/today will be a better day for you! :goodvibes

Anything Disney in the mail feels so good. We don't get much Disney mail, so it is always SO exciting! :yay: :yay: :yay:
The packaging thing is something that really gets out of hand! :sad2: Tom orders a lot of computer stuff and it is usually less than 1/3 full of stuff and the rest is lots of bags full of air! Can't they get decent boxes? :confused3

I would have been a bit disappointed with the contents of the box. The pin is very cute, but with a box that big they get your hopes up.

Add me to the list of people who have never tried bacon wrapped asparagus. Bacon is good, asparagus is good... putting them together sounds genius. I have to try it!

Good Morning Karin !!I am somewhat rested !!At least the kids let me sleep till 7 a.m So I got a few hours sleep !!I treasure Sat. & Sun. when I can sleep in a little !!!:worship::cloud9::banana:

I love Chip and Dale! so I would have been excited to get your package. One evening during dinner at Chef Mickey's, Dale asked me to go with him and leave DH behind.

We have a couple of chipmunks that live in my front yard that we feed dried corn. I call them Chip & Dale. They are so cute, but sometimes they dig in my flower pots!

:lovestruc Asparagus wrapped in bacon is perfection! Great for dinner or breakfast. :goodvibes
We also love green bean bundles- 5 or 6 green beans wrapped with a half slice of bacon and roasted in the oven (the green beans are partially cooked before this and lightly tossed with olive oil).

You are right, I was expecting a publication in a box that big! Well, they DID send a letter in it! :rotfl2:
I LOVE the little extras they send with every issue and especially their treats for renewing the membership early!

We are going to try the bacon wrapped asparagus too! I am just waiting for the season to begin! :goodvibes ;)

Glad you got some rest, Rosie! Hope you get to sleep in today - at least it's another Saturday! :thumbsup2

I was excited to get the package, but when I opened it, it looked like something was missing! :rotfl2:
I love that little story of Dale asking you to come with him! I would have loved to see Mick's reaction! ;)

It's so fun how we carry over our love for Disney into our real lives! You have got Chip & Dale the chipmonks in your yard, we have TinkerBell (Pixie) the cat in our house! :rotfl2:

Bacon wrapped green beans are quite common here, but I already looked up a recipe for the bacon wrapped asparagus - can't wait for the local asparagus season to start and try it! :thumbsup2

Real life update!

I am real sorry I didn't update here or on any other of my threads but real life got the better of me ... and Tom too! ;)

I was still hopeful to be able to get some serious DIS time when last week started, but on Monday already I had enrolled in a course at our school which only allowed me to get back home after 6pm instead of 2.30pm! Then there was the discussion about Tom's car. ;)

Tuesday is my day off, but I had a lot of chores to do and errands to run, so no real free time to get some DIS time in.

Wednesday I had enrolled in another ALL day course here in my hometown and while it was a nice treat not to have to drive to school, it was still a long hard day, sitting there listening and learning new things.
All that sitting and learning made me real tired, so I am blaming that on my age! :rotfl2:
When I got back to our house and Tom, he told me that he had been to a car dealer and had gotten several different offers for different cars. Two were well within his price range, but the third one was "a bit" above it, but that is the car that made his eyes light up!
He told me all about it and how nice it was to sit in it and how much he liked the looks of it and I remember that when the model was first introduced here, he was all excited about it!
So here is what his heart is beating for and we are discussing buying ....

The new Nissan Qashqai.

The next thing that distracted us was that when we were discussing his new car I mentioned that I need to start thinking about a new car for myself as well. My current car is already 8 years old and I guess repairs will have to be made pretty soon.
So, my darling brother had them price out a car for me as well! :scared1: ;)
It's the new model of my current car - a Nissan Micra (mouse). Yip, that is what it was called in the very beginning. :rotfl2: I always thought it is the appropriate car for me to drive. ;)
Well, to get back to the subject - the offer he brought home IS very tempting ......

and ........

now we ........

are going to buy two cars! :goodvibes :woohoo:

Only downside - with a VERY expensive summer holiday we had to do some really hard number crunching to find out IF we can actually afford to buy 2 cars and have a 4 week vacation!
To be honest, it is going to be tight, but with a little pixie dust we will be able to pull it off.

So here is what I am going to get ...

NOT any of those colours though! :rotfl2:

n3.jpg

n4.jpg

n5.jpg

My preferred colour this time is red, with a nice black interior - do the colours remind you of something? :rolleyes1
I even stated that maybe two yellow dots on the front hood might look nice - just kidding! I am not that insane! :rotfl2:

Downside - we most likely will NOT be able to go back to Disney in February of 2012 and we might not be able to cruise in 2012. :scared1:

But at least the car issue is taken care of!

So, this weekend we have the Marathon on in our hometown, so I hope to get some quiet time in and update on most of my threads!
