If your heart is in your DREAM ……… a Aug/Sept 2011, NEW - links to dining/trip report

Great first day! I also can't wait to see what kind of airplane food you get cause I'm weird like that.

Sounds like a really nice start to your vacay. Hooray for getting a Camaro!!! Tom must be excited to drive it!

A MONTH in Disney and taking Disney Cruises.....I am sooo jealous!

I just got back and I'm sad I didn't make it to WPE this trip. There are just so many good food options and not enough meals and stomach space on a 3 night trip! I was planning to go for lunch before I left to drive home, but ended up booking the Sanaa Dine with an Animal Specialist Lunch when I arrived!

:worship::flower3::hippie::cloud9::worship::worship: I so love the way you do your day by day report!!!:worship::worship:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Can't wait to meet you on the DREAM!

Busy 1st day!!! But I can't wait to hear about your 2nd one! ;)

Yes, I know the first day sounds busy, but keep in mind that this day will be 6 hours longer for us with the time change and that we will most likely catch some sleep while on the plane!

Guess Day 2 will be an exciting one as well! :thumbsup2

I am always amazed at what you get to eat on your flights! I am a bit nervous about the flight I just booked because flight is at 6am... arrives (3hour time change) 5:45 pm. No food is served other than pretzels and soda. Even if I board with food... not sure how we will make it all day. I think we are gonna be hungry. I would assume that isn't a worry on your flight. :rotfl: As always, your pictures make me hungry and the ones of the flight food is no exception.

All in all.. a very nice first day planned. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Wow! A 6am flight! That IS early - I can tell from experience. When we fly to Paris we always take the 6.05am flight, but boy, is it hard to get out of bed that early! :sad2:

Bring a carryon full of snacks to get you through the day. Only soda and pretzels - that's unbelieveable!

Day 1 is our usual routine, as we cannot change anything around the flight schedule and we are happy there is a non stop flight from Frankfurt to Orlando now. We used to have a stopover in Washington DC and with the immigration and picking up of luggage to take through customs, we sometimes didn't make our connecting flight. Made for some "not so nice" starts to our vacations! ;)

I cannot say it any better .
Plus i have to say i look at those pictures are such amazing shots i have to start taking more food shots this trip but wife gets mad when i do pictures of food cause by the time we eat we are usually hugry and those few precious moments are hard when they put those amazing plates in front of you .

Jeff, I am glad you like my pre-trip report! :goodvibes
We are so used to taking photos of food, that I even take my camera to restaurants around where we live! :rotfl2: And should I forget to take a photo, Tom will always remind me, he is as much into "food photography" as I am! :thumbsup2
Can't wait to finally meet you on the DREAM!

Hi Karin:

great trip report! we'll be traveling with you on the 8/28-9/1 cruise!

I am glad you enjoy my pre-trippie! And I remember your screen name from Jeff's thread! :thumbsup2
Can't wait to meet you in person on the DREAM!

Hi Karin and:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:for the convertible !!!!Day 1 sounds great BUT very long !!!I soooo remember those international flights and the time change and the JET LAG:scared1::scared1:
Can't wait to meet you on the 19th!!!!:banana:

I was over the moon happy when Tom decided to get a convertible again! :woohoo: He doesn't let me pay for it, and it is his decision on what car he wants to get.
As for the time change - I don't mind it too much going TO the US. But it makes me wake up at very early hours for the first few days. ;) Going back home after a month is another story. Can't get to sleep and am falling asleep at the wrong hours of the day! :rotfl2:
Can't wait for the 19th either! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Great news about the convertible! That looks like it will be so much fun. I also cannot believe what you get for food on your flights...no matter how many times you tell us or I see pictures... :lmao: And with the Nussini again?? Looks so good. Maybe I need to have dinner now? :rotfl:

First day looks great, if a bit exhausting. I am thankful we only have to deal with a three hour flight. :goodvibes

We have had Convertibles before and they are so much fun to drive! We would never get one here - the weather just doesn't call for it.

They still feed us well on those flights, I know! I cannot imagine us crossing the pond without being fed properly!

I know that our first day "seems" long and exhausting, but most of the time we get to sit/sleep on the plane and with the time change this day will have an extra 6 hours for us! :lmao:

Great first day! I also can't wait to see what kind of airplane food you get cause I'm weird like that.

Sounds like a really nice start to your vacay. Hooray for getting a Camaro!!! Tom must be excited to drive it!

I promise to take photos of the in flight food just for you, Yuki! :goodvibes
We won't get a Camaro, Yuki, I was referring to last year's trip where we were upgraded to one because they were out of convertibles.
But we will get a convertible and we are just as excited to be able to ride in it as well!

It makes more sense to spend more time at Disney with the airfare being so high travelling during "high season". And with all the discounts I was able to score this year, it made the trip affordable.
I cannot wait for our cruises, we will get to spend 11 nights on board the DREAM! We are both SO looking forward to it!
Guess what, we decided NOT to do the Wine tasting dinner at Flying Fish. We decided to keep all three cabanas and they are quite expensive, so we decided to cut the dinner. But hopefully next time we go we will be able to do it! :thumbsup2

Trip planning:

Day 2, August 14

I guess we will wake up pretty early on our first full day at the world, because our body will still think we are 6 hours ahead.

After taking showers we will head over to Olivia’s for our “Welcome to the World” breakfast, which will include

strawberries and cream.
Plus I am sure we will hit the store to look for any new things.

Then we will head over to Downtown Disney, hope to find a prime spot to park our car and start to have a look at any new additions to the shops.

IMG_5817.JPG

If it’s not too hot we will hit Ghirardelli’s for

IMG_9553.JPG

IMG_9556.JPG

some ice cream before we head back to the car to drive over to Publix

IMG_5703.JPG

to do some grocery shopping to really make good use of that Old Key West fridge.
Once we have everything stocked we will then go back to Downtown Disney to have lunch at Wolfgang Puck’s Express.

IMG_5647.JPG

Can’t wait to taste that 4 cheese pesto pizza again! And since we will have DDP credits to burn

IMG_5654.JPG

I can see that famous Crème Brulee in my future too!
We will then return to Old Key West for a little rest and relaxation before we head over to the All Stars resorts for our first DISmeet of this trip.

We are going to meet

edit22.jpg

(I borrowed the photo from your trip report - hope you don't mind! :goodvibes)

Jennifer, jenseib and we are SO excited. I hope she will like to come back with us to Old Key West and since she is a Disney Travel Agent now, she can have a closer look at the resort and get “a guest’s view” of their one bedroom villas.

There should be time for lots of talk and a few snacks too.

In the evening we will head to The Wave for dinner.

IMG_5501.JPG

IMG_5513.jpg

The Magic Kingdom has Evening Extra Magic Hours that day from 11 to 2am and this is where we are heading after dinner.

IMG_5605.JPG

We hope to be able to fit in a few of our favourite rides

IMG_5608.JPG

and enjoy and explore the Magic Kingdom when it is a little cooler outside. Guess we will be back at our villa at around 3am and fall into bed as soon as make it back.

That Jenseib is a good looking girl! :lmao:

I'm so excited...so you don't mind picking me up then? We just have to set a time. My flight arrives at 12:09...if all goes well, and I am taking ME to AS Movies. I'll probably get a quick bit to eat...So maybe like 3:30...is that too late.too early, you just let me know. I'll give you my phone number too, just in case.
I think after we visit, I'll head over to DTD. I never really explore that much either, so it should be fun to walk around and take in the sights there at a leisurely pace.

Yes, she definitely is a good looking girl!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

If it's okay with you, we will pick you up at AS Movies. Is it okay for you to come back to OKW with us? You can take the boat to DTD from there lateron in the afternoon/evening.

I'll PM you Tom's cell phone number too - but be aware this is an international number, make sure your phone can take them. (We had trouble with Tina's phone.)

That sounds like a nice 2nd day! Eve EMH at MK is always the best.

OK, I'll check. We have nextel and sometimes it's weird.

Day 2 looks fun! Thanks for the food pics... you know... now I am hungry. ;) Actually, the ones of the Wave were much appreciated. Makes me that much more excited that I made and ADR for there. :goodvibes

We always have a "kind of" lazy day on our first full day there. It helps with adjusting to the time change! :thumbsup2

And EMH at the MK are a must, especially when they are really late - when the last hour of the EMHs rolls around the park is pretty empty and you can ride anything as often as you want! :woohoo:

OK, I'll check. We have nextel and sometimes it's weird.

If it won't work we will just leave you a message at your resort, so you can call us at OKW through the Disney land line - I think they are free! :goodvibes

I am really happy you "enjoy" the food pics - but what else would you expect from me! :rotfl2:

We have yet to have a bad meal at The Wave - we really enjoy that it has a different menu than most of the WDW restaurants!

Plans sound great so far :thumsbup2 Not that long to go now :)

I just found this! Your plans sound great so far, and I can't wait to read your more detailed plans.

Karin, I'm enjoying reading about your plans. Since we are only going to be at CSR two nights it didn't take much planning for me. We got Ohana for a late dinner on the first night and Via Napoli for a late lunch the next day, since Mick decided to go ahead and buy a one day ticket. (couldn't stand the idea of not visiting the parks). :) Thinking of starting out with EMH at DHS, then Epcot for lunch, ride the monorail over to MK, then back to EPCOT.

Hi Karin i really have to stay away from this thread and what i mean is either it makes me want to eat or have dessert . or it makes me want to jump on a plane tommorow to go to Disney i really love how u do your trip report and im slowly working on mine hoping to up date this week .

Thank you! 28 more days to plan! :lmao: ........ and only 54 more days until we leave! :woohoo:

Hi! Welcome!
It's wonderful to know that you are on board too!
More detailled plans coming up soon - hopefully tonight! :thumbsup2

Plans are looking great, Karin. Love shopping at DTD.

Shopping is my middle name, Kathy! :rotfl2: We have a lot more things up our sleeves ........ so watch out for more plans to come. (Hopefully soon! The end of the school year is taking its toll! :lmao:)

:woohoo: yeah for getting a park ticket. And you plans sound great as well, and PLEASE, don't forget that we need to determine a date and time when we will meet. What about some ice-cream at Beaches and Cream, or maybe having a drink somewhere?

No Jeff, please don't stay away - these are only two days! There's LOADS more to come ....... especially food! And if food gets you excited you will love cruising with Disney! :goodvibes

Trip planning:

Day 3, August 15

After only getting back in the early morning hours from the Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours we will most likely sleep in

DSC_0809.jpg

and grab a bite to eat out of the fridge for breakfast. Or some of these

IMG_5673.JPG

We will then drive offsite to check the souvenir stores for more FE gifts for the little ones.

IMG_7282.jpg

At around noon we will go back to Downtown Disney for lunch at Cookes of Dublin

cookes.jpg

and if it is not too windy for a balloon ride,

DSC_0272.jpg

DSC_0299.jpg

we will go on that.

Then we will head back to our villa and enjoy some time at or better in one of Old Key West’s quiet pools.

Around the late afternoon we will walk back to our villa, take a shower and then get ready for dinner at Jiko.

IMG_5676.JPG

IMG_7546.jpg

We have an early ADR and hope that our second experience there will be as nice as the first one.
Once we have finished our meal we will drive over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Evening Extra Magic Hours.

IMG_6212.JPG

IMG_6282.JPG

Hopefully we will be able to fit in a few rides. Maybe we will even be able to get on the new StarTours. I guess we will be back home in our villa at around midnight.

Karin, plans sound great for this day. I love the Disney outlet stores...and we have three in Orlando we go to and then two by Nicki. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thank you, Kathy! Disney outlet stores are the best, aren't they, nothing better than saving a dime or two! :rotfl2:
But for us a visit to Petsmart and Walmart seems like a treat too, we don't have that kind of store here, so everything HUGE like those stores amazes me! :goodvibes
