If your flying on WestJet from the USA to Canada here is some info you want to know

I am not sure if Air Canada is doing this or if this will effect anyone since carryon bags are not allowed when flying from Canada to the United States, but last Thursday when my family and I were flying home from Tampa - Toronto on WestJet, the ticket agent asked us to weigh our carryon bags, which is something they never asked before and they said it was new since the attempted boming on Christmas Day. Now I realize sometimes at the gate they can stop you and make you put it in that thing to make sure it fits in the overhead and etc, however this was nothing like that. Anyway according to them carryon bag was 6lbs overweight and they said I might need to check it, although they also said it would be up to the TSA agent standing at the tram entrance who looks at them to know for sure if we need to go back and check-it. Anyway the agent was looking at a specific flap with a zipper and said it was ok to go through so I didn't need to check it.

Although I will say again for those Canadians flying back from the United States to Canada, how many will have carryon bags since they couldn't have them when flying to the United States.

I've had my carry on weighed at different times in different airports over the years. It doesn't seem to happen often but it does happen and I've, many times, seen people blow a gasket at the gate because they have been made to check the bag.

I have always tried to stick to the rules, so now with many more rules it really is not that big of a hassle for me. The liquids are a bit tricky but whatever sometimes I have to buy something at the hotel.
