If your flight out of SNA was at 6:30 pm...

...what time would you have a shuttle pick you up at your Harbor Blvd. hotel to take you to the airport? I've never flown to Disneyland before -- never had reason to think about these things. This will be my only chance ever to see Aladdin and I hope it works out. I read somewhere they were going to run the show daily, but I don't think that's the case yet. Thanks for any input!

I think the shuttle service sets the time for pick-up based on your flight info.

That's correct. The shuttle will inform you of your appointed pick up time and they're usually right on time. Well, that's been my experience. :)

I use SuperShuttle and reserve ahead online. I find that the times they give me as pick-up options get me to the airport too soon because I always check in and print my boarding pass the day before. So, I give my flight time as 1/2 hour later than it actually is so I don't have to wait 2 hours at the airport. It takes 20-30 min to get from the hotel to the airport and they generally give you a 15-minute window for the pick-up time (say, between 12 and 12:15). I figure if they get there at the latest time in that window and I add half an hour for the drive, that's how long I'll have at the airport before my flight time. I adjust the time so I have no more than 1 1/2 hours to wait.

I do the same thing! But I use Primetime shuttle...

but, but, If I did that, I wouldn't have time to drink my two pilsners of overpriced beer at the Sports Lounge at SNA before my flight :rotfl2:

Super Shuttle asks for your flight info and gives you a time for pickup, but you do not have to accept that time. They just dont want to be responsible if you miss your flight. You can have them pick you up anytime you want just make sure you prearrange it. Make sure you give yourself at very minimum 2-2 1/2 hours. The drive from DL to SNA is about 20 minutes and you still have to get your boarding passes and get through security. You gotta make sure that you have enough time in case your flight schedual has changed. But if your flight leaves at 6:30, then I say leave around 3.

If I had a flight that left at 6:30, I would get a shuttle pick-up time for 3:15-3:30. This is still plenty of time for security, but if you don't plan to check-in and print your boarding pass ahead of time, then 3:00 is probably better. You'll still end up sitting around in the airport, most likely, but I'm not willing to cut it any closer than that. I know people who do, but I would rather read in the airport (or savor a few pilsners) for an extra bit of time than miss my flight.

Security is usually pretty quick at SNA.

Exactly!!! I would definitely do 3:15-3:30, once we called Super Shuttle to pick us up a little we bit later. We were on time for our flight, but JUST. I think we might have been the last ones to board. Dont let yourself get this far.

Thanks for all the great info everyone. I'm not "in the know" at all. Does it work the same way as far as getting picked up FROM the airport? Meaning they get your flight info for when you arrive and they choose the time to pick you up? I think we are going with Super Shuttle. Do you sit around and wait for the van to fill up before you are on your way? Thanks for all the help.

Yes you definitely want to confirm your flight reservations with Super Shuttle. Super Shuttle will then say " We will be at your hotel to pick you up at .... time. Then you can say sure Ok that would work out perfect for me, or No we would rather be picked up at .... time instead at our hotel. They will make note of what ever option you choose and will pick you up at that time.

Super Shuttle has ALWAYS been really good to us when it come to pick up at the hotel to bring you to the airport. Most times they get to your hotel a few minutes early to make sure they are on time. If not you dont wait anymore then 5-10 minutes. Waiting only happened for us once which tells you how good the company has been to us. Best thing about picking up at the hotel to bring you back to the airport is that you dont pick up anyone else along the way. Super Shuttle picks up you and your party and takes them straight to the airport to catch your flight.

It's a little different from the airport to the hotel. They get your flight and hotel info when you make your online reservation and when you arrive you just walk out to the shuttles. They check your name on their list and you get on a van. Yes, they do try to fill up the shuttle, but it rarely takes longer than 5-10 minutes max. You don't have to have a reservation, by the way, but I do it because I like to get the discount and have it paid for ahead of time (you can even prepay the tip, which I always do). I use coupon code UYR59 for $3 off each way. You can get that per person by making a separate reservation for each member of your party or you can try Googling for other discount codes that will get you $2 off per person each way without having to make separate ressies for each. I'm just cheap ;)

ETA: make sure when you do the online reservation that you give the hotel name and not the zip code! The zip code entry will give you a really high rate, like $40 each way. The regular rate if you use the hotel name is $10 each way and with the above code, $7.

Oops...I goofed up! Now that it is morning and I am not so brain-addled, I wanted to say that I gave the wrong times for what *I* would do. If my flight left at 6:30, I would get a shuttle time for 4-4:15 if I was checked in and had my boarding pass. Figure getting to the aiport by 4:45, you still have an hour and 45 minutes until flight time. You could even do 4:30 but I'm still nervous about cutting things too close.

However, I only fly from SNA to Sacramento and I fly SW so if I ever did miss my flight it wouldn't be as big a deal as if I had connecting flights, penalties, etc. I have never been close to missing a flight, though. I used to always get there with 2-3 hours to spare and I just don't do that anymore, especially when the kids are with me. I may be able to pass the time sitting quietly, but my girls are not as disciplined as I am :cutie:

So much great info! I appreciate it. I like the option to pay ahead of time with that discount! And the tip...sheesh, I hadn't thought of that. I mean, I would have thought of it when it was time to ride the shuttle, but that sounds nice to take care of it ahead of time. Can anyone tell me what the tipping etiquette is for airport shuttle drivers? Thanks.

I think the standard rate is 15-20%. On SuperShuttle, they automatically add in an 18% gratuity if you choose to pay the tip online, but you can change that to any percentage. I always just use the 18% amount. It's nice not to have to worry about any money for the shuttle! Just be sure to make a copy of your reservation and take it with you.

Thanks for all your help! It will be nice to have one more thing taken care of and crossed off my list before we go. :)
