If your child came to you and told you....(inspired by Snoopy)

I would accept my child for who or what he is because he is my child and I love him unconditionally. However, I hope I never would have to accept that he is gay. He is my only child and I dream of having a DIL and grandchildren some day. On the other hand if being gay is who my son is than I would need to accept that fact.

I am not against gays and I am know a couple of gay people, and I do believe that most gays are born gay, however I do believe there are some out there that chose to be gay for whatever reason. Would I dislike someone solely because they are gay, absolutely not, to me character counts for everything, not lifestyle.

An after thought...

For all you folks who worry that if your child(ren) are gay you won't get to be Grandparents...Fear not, because gay folks are having kids & raising families too. :)

I was just going to say that.
I'm glad to see that so many people would be supportive of their children and also of their family and friends, I personally don't have any problem with it.

You do know that there are gy animals, right? People don't choose to be gay, it just happens. It's nature. If you really think god has a problem with homosexuality, than you are sadly mistaken. Homosexuality is natural.

I am not debating, just stating my beliefs. God started with Adam and Eve and I believe that is what His plan for us is.

Just because there are gay animals does not mean it is what God wants.

Everyone has their own beliefs.

the one who cannot accept it is the nieces' godmother.
It happens to be the other sil. She keeps writing to her and telling her horrible things. Things like God hates her for her lifestyle, etc.

 How horrible!!!!

I have a DS and DD and if either of them 'come out' when they're older, so be it. I LOVE them - regardless of their sexual orientation. So what?! As long as they turn out to be decent human beings, and continue to have a great relationship with each other, that's all that matters. I know my DH feels the same as I do (although, if I'm honest, like most men, he'd probably be more disappointed if DS was gay - but that's a 'man' thing). I know my own siblings would be fine too. I do understand how my parent's generation (aged 60+) find it difficult to understand, but I think that society is so much more tolerant now - even here, in "holy Catholic Ireland".

i would accept it.

one of my best friends came out to his parents in high school and their relationship is still very strained 10 years later b/c of the way they handled it.
