...to be involved with Forensic Science, what job would you want and why? Personally...I don't think I could take being a medical examiner. I have a fairly strong stomach and I can take looking at the gore...but not smelling it. The smell would be WAY too foul for me, I think. I truly believe I would throw-up from the smell. lol.

I think it would VERY neat to be a profiler.

So, what about you?

When we did a short unit on it in Biology, I thought it was really interesting. I can't handle any amount of blood, so I probably wouldn't be able to do any of it. :p

I can take the gore.

I can take the smell.

I could do medical examinations.

I'd be the one testing all of the samples.

Like Abby on NCIS.

Yeah. I'd be in the LAB.

Finding the criminal through DNA.

I applied to a highschool that focuses around those kind of sciences.

does aeroplane crashes count??

i think i'd like to examine them.

i can take the smell

i can take the gore

i could do it

There are experienced professionals who still find it extremely hard to take the strong smell of death...especially if the body was severly damaged, wrapped in a bag, and thrown in the water to then be discovered by the crime scene investigators during peak times of decay. I think it is easy to say that I could take the smell...but I know it is ten times worse than what I could even imagine as the worst.

I know it will be much worse, but I could deal with it. I've smelled the smell of death before (horridly long story, and no I didn't kill anyone or anything). Death is a horrid smell, and maggots are disgusting. I just have an incredibly strong stomach. It takes a whole lot to make my eyes water. And short of sticking your fingers down my throat, you won't make me gag.

I actually considered going into forensics..but then decided not to.

I wanted to get into ballistics (the study of firearms and other weaponry).

Either that or the computer related aspects like creating suspect images, or isolating sounds in a recording..that kind of stuff..

Yeah see...I don't have THAT strong of a stomach lol. I think I have a fairly strong one...but heck, it'd really be a lie to say I could take that smell rofl.

I could never go out and find the body.

I could never examine the body.

But I can take samples and go find the criminal.

Thee end.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day
while watching CSI....
I think it would actually be really, cool
Idk if i could deal with the smell, but i hear you get accustomed to it and don't smell it after awhile.
I think it's just so neat all the different techniques.
I was watching a CSI eposiode and one guy was like to the Coroner....Why do you do this????? and he was like "Someone needs to speak for the dead" and it was just like wow.....good point.
I actually think i want to be a lawyer and put the creeps away that do that to people.....hmmmm

Grissom. lol. I LOVE that guy on CSI. However, CSI is NOT a good source for some real forensic points lol...it is okay for some things, but overall it is HIGHLY exaggerated. Some of the things they do are virtually impossible. A good show to watch for a more realistic take on Forensics is Forensic Files. It goes over cases that have happened and how they were solved. They still don't get into half the stuff that actually goes on...but then again, not many shows can because it isn't good for a general audience...;) lol.
