If you were single, would you consider Craigslist to find a date?

Anytime I might be tempted to consider it, I'll think of the guy who wanted to find a "freind" for some quality NOOD SKYDIVING, and I'll just say no.

From what I have heard about Craigslist people, (present company excepted;)) they are a very special kind of stranger. It amazes me the number of people that will get a roommate from that site.

My friend's roommate met a guy on Craigslist and then invited him over to meet him for the very first time. Since my friend owns the house and the other girls rents, my friend was livid that she'd invite a stranger from Craigslist over for dinner. If memory serves, my friend locked her bedroom door and left the house for the evening. The guy turned out to be a bit of a dweeb...but I say dweebs can be murderers too!

I think you're likely to get a better pool of people to choose from if you choose to sign up with a reputable paid site rather than Craigslist. You certainly can find love on the internet, you just need to be careful.

No way.

I also wouldn't look for child care on there but some people do. I've sold stuff but even that can be scary sometimes!

Um, no, that would be the very last place I would look. I know this sounds corny but I would try church or if you have kids, kid's sporting events. Happy hunting!:goodvibes

I'm all for people who find relationships through reputable dating sites, but Craig's List? Never in a million years would I resort to that. But honestly, I wouldn't go through Craig's List for anything in the first place.

My sons have made purchases from Craigslist. The last one I was nervous about because we had to drive to a house near the wilderness park (a few minutes away from us). But it turned out to be okay.

With Craigslist, you get the unknown public right at your door, if you wish. Not safe at all. :surfweb:

Though, one fellow mentioned that he wasn't good enough to sign on for eharmony. I wonder if there is an income minimum for those dating sites.

Now now...Craigslist is a never ending source of amusement for me. AND we just got a new lawn mower from craigslist this weekend!:thumbsup2

I've read many stories of how people met online and married. "We met on Craigslist" was not one of them.

Confession.. I met my husband on craigslist, but shhh.. not a lot of people know that. A very, very long and complicated story short.. we really were made for each other. Funny thing was, I wasn't looking for a soulmate or even really someone to date. I was playing around looking at the jobs and garage sales, and decided to place an ad in the personals section for s&g. Seriously.. the amount of responses, more real than spam, were ASTONISHING.

I met a handful of other dates on there, and none of them turned out to be serial killers.. though, I'd be willing to believe some of the guys who emailed me that I never responded to could be :scared:. Like ANYTHING online, you have to be smart about it and follow your instinct.

PS - Please don't tell my mom :rotfl2:

I know that people really meet other people through these services, but I just don't get it. I would never consider dating someone that needed one of these services to find a date... :confused3

NEVER!!!! I have no problem with those dating sites, but Craigslist is just different to me.

Definitely not! I don't think I would utilize any dating service or personal ads, though. I tend to think that the best relationships are the ones that find us - through friendships that develop into something more, or through groups in which we are active, or things like that - rather than the ones we go looking for. So I don't think I would be likely to use any service simply because for me that doesn't seem like the best start to a relationship. If I did decide to use some sort of service I would certainly want to stick to those with good reputations, and I have heard too many stories about the crazies on Craigslist to trust it with my love life.

A sofa maybe but a DATE? No:scared1:

I am a CL fiend, buy or sell something on it every week. I've never gotten into the social side of it, though, too anonymous and creepy. And I AM single!

I wouldn't trust Craigslist too much. I can why a lot of people use pay dating sites because they are more safe than Craigslist. I read story sometime before the Julissa Brissman case about a guy in Brooklyn who answered a dating ad on Craigslist and it turned out to be scam and he got murdered by someone and the killers haven't been caught.
