Absolutely not. I would love a home with bedrooms upstairs. Grew up in a Ranch and have lived in this Ranch for 50+ years. (It IS a nice quiet culdesac house though.) Always wanted levels but it was never the right time to move for various legit reasons. Now I'm old and the party is over but it would have been nice.

I'm thankful to have what I have but a Ranch gets boring sometimes and I always need bedrooms neat because they are visible at times.

LOL. I live in a subdivision with a mix of one and two stories and every two story on my street (all 5) has been sold at least once because the owners got tired of having to go upstairs to bed.
One to the west of me they sold because his 90 year old dad who lived with them couldn't handle the stairs and they realized they weren't far behind him in having the same problem.

No. I do very much love our home, and neighbors, and not having an HOA, but the kids didn't get a chance to grow up with friends nearby Looking back, wish so, so much we'd bought in one of the larger neighborhoods around here, so they could more easily hang out, have all of that community feel.

TOTALLY!! We're actually selling our current home and looking for a new one. We knew going into the process that compromises would have to be made but geez, we're having a hard time finding anything that is anywhere near as good as this, which I guess is understandable, given that we're downsizing hugely in price.

It hit home for me to just be thankful in general when I broke my ankle several years ago and could barely get into the house via one stair…landing…one stair. Because I was totally uncoordinated with crutches and a heavy cast, I knew darn well I never would have made it upstairs to a bedroom on crutches without killing myself. During those 4 months I suddenly loved my Ranch. Of course then later when I’d go to someone’s lovely 2 story or bi-level I’d say ahhhh.

Yes. We bought this home 4 years ago, downsizing from a larger one to a townhome. We no longer wanted to live in that big house and chose this one very carefully. It's exactly where I want to live.

When I bought my house, I didn't even consider 2 stories. Working in nursing homes, I'd seen too many patients unable to go to their home after rehab because of the steps. Or if they did go home, they had to put a bed in the living room.

Not if we were looking now. It was too big for us over 20 years ago when we bought but we did fill it up every once in a while. Now, the only time we go upstairs is for me to flush the toilets every once in a while. We do go down to the basement a lot but what is down there could be in a smaller house.

Yes. No home is perfect but our current home is as perfect as we can make it.

I was raised in 3-story+basement and there were too many stairs! But I do like sleeping upstairs - just feels safer. Our first home we both enjoyed and build a 2-story addition creating just enough space but the street was shades of Stephen King's Pet Cemetery. So we moved into our current home, which we've expanded (raised a roof and enclosed back porch). Now, we enjoy our home and it's location. I enjoy walking down the same main street I've been walking since elementary school (yeah, uphill both ways - LOL).
