If you were in charge of Limited Time Magic, what would your ideas be?

I thought this would make for a fun topic, I don't believe I've seen such a thread yet. A lot of people have been complaining about Limited Time Magic lacking some magic. Why don't we round up some ideas, you never know maybe the folks at Disney might read these boards ;)

My first idea is: Toy Story week!
My family would love to meet all the unusual characters: Bullseye, Mr Potato Head, Bo Peep, Lotso,...
They could also set up various game stations based on the movie and different props to have your picture taken with.
I think this would be great for Hollywood Studios.

Who wants to go next?

I think it would be fun to have a little nighttime magic.

Maybe as you are strolling through a park in the evening they could have random spotlights set up that periodically zoom in on people and then cm's come out with a microphone, ask you where you're from, etc... Then present you with something fun like a private meet and greet with 4 of your favourite Disney characters, or dinner for 4 at a buffet, or a night at a deluxe resort, or parkhopper tickets etc...

It would be kind of neat for people cause you never know when or where the extra magic will happen.

I would have CMs pick guests randomly near the hub for a tour of the castle suite....

YES!!! They need to do this!!!!! Even just a chance of seeing it, would make me plan a trip or two!

I think that they should pull some ideas from the year of a million dreams, it was such a great promotion! Maybe have a week of random dream fast pass giveaways...or random Mickey ear giveaways. I would love something like that!

DS13 and I were talking about this idea:
Instead of Long Lost Friends Week - make it The Year of Friends

Each week (or every couple weeks) showcase a different set of friends from a different movie.

Example: one week could be Aladdin and feature Aladdin and Jasmine (who are easy to meet) along with Genie, Abu, Jafar who are more elusive these days
Another week could be Pinocchio, and so on.

There are so many Disney movies that they could easily fill a year and people seem to be thrilled with meeting the rare characters.

I love it!
I think people never get enough of characters, and very cheap for Disney too :)

Great question! I wish I was creative enough to come up with some awesome ideas... if I was, I'd probably strive to join the Imagineer ranks! I'm not a creative type (unless you mean with data!), and as I've said in other threads I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with the current promotion -- some years will be better than others. :)

I'm just surprised that this thread doesn't have hundreds of posts by now, given all of the threads on here filled with comments that DISers could basically do better in their sleep -- I'm paraphrasing, of course... and waiting for some INCREDIBLE suggestions... :)

I'll take a whack at this. And they could do each thing more than once. For example, do it first in, say, March...and then you can repeat it in September or October.

"Re-open" each of the former clubs from Pleasure Island for a week (Adventurer's Club probably would need multiple weeks).

"Celebrate" a different classic Disney movie for a week. This could include meet & greets, as well as appearances in parades and shows by characters from the particular "movie of the week", the obligitory merchandising push, showing that movie at the resorts that show movies, and I'm sure they can come up with more ideas around each movie. This could easily occupy 20-30 weeks.

A lot of people seemed to really like the "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion. I did not visit during that promo so I can't speak about it first-hand, but since it was so well-received, they could revive the basic premise for several weeks throughout the year. It would need a different name, so they can call them "Random Acts of Magic Weeks" or something.

I love this idea. This would really make me want to go to WDW more. Disney, do this! :)

Since so many WDW guests are once-a-year planners rather than AP's who drop in on the weekends, I think I'd make each promotion last longer than a week, and I'd publish the entire schedule at the beginning of the year.

Yes! I started a separate thread on this before I was led to this one. Even a monthly theme would be cool - and there are so many things they could do. It might even be worth selling merchandise to match the theme - this would offset some of the costs. Most of us would be more than willing to plunk down money for a unique pin, tote bag, mug, etc.
