If YOU were going to WDW for your 40th??

I'm planning to be celebrating my 40th bday at WDW in Fall'09 with my dh. (d-brats will be home w/ grandma)LOL
We are also planning to renew our vows as it will be our 10th year as well.
Planning to go for the gold!!
I'd love to stay at a suite at GF. Which would you choose? Any other outrageous suites on property to consider?
Any fun dinners to plan for friends if they choose to join us? (probably 3 other couples, total of 8)

I am just back from by big 4-O trip and we stayed at the Poly. I got major pixie dust and was upgraded to concierge level. I think that I could die happy right about now. I loved the Poly! Maggie

In my perfect world, I would choose Poly for Spring to Summer. I would choose CR or Wilderness Lodge for the rest of the year. Of course, I would be at Disney so it really does not matter to me. I love Disney. We are going in Feb for my 37th bday - I am blessed to have an awesome husband who loves me and tolerates my love of Disney. Have a great time.

I have my 40th b-day ressies already! School will be in so we can only stay for the weekend, but I plan to make it the best it can be. I LOVE MK, so that is where I will be on the big day, daylight until dark. If it was a perfect world, I would stay at BC. We stayed there a week in June and it was awesome and the location was the best!! Since it's a short trip, I didn't want to get spoiled to that again, so we are staying at POR (I've been wanting to try that one anyway). My favorite restaurants are the Coral Reef, Cape May Cafe Character breakfast, Yacht Club Galley, and Rainforest Cafe. I would love to eat in "Italy", however, my family would not be enjoying it as much as I would. At every park, it is always mandatory that I have a bucket of popcorn to carry back to the resort with me. That stuff is the best!!! I love TL, but the trip will be too short and it will probably be too cool for that. Anyway, I hope that your 40th is awesome!!! I can hardly wait!!!!

We enjoyed a family trip to the Poly for my daughter's 40th and her husband surprised her with a boat cruise to watch the fireworks and the electric water parade. It was very nice and we could almost reach out and touch the parade boats.

We stayed at the Garden Suites at the Boardwalk Inn this past summer for a 'no kids' long (not long enough) weekend. It was wonderful. It feels a bit large for 2, but a great place to come 'home' to after a day in the parks. It was a little more expensive than the Poly concierge, I think. We have stayed a few times at the Poly concierge with the family and it is our favorite. But this was a great alternative for just us. The concierge lounge is a bit inconvenient, but we found we used it less than when the kids are with us anyways. We enjoyed taking our time and strolling the grounds around the Boardwalk area and hung around the quiet pool right outside our door. The jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus as well! The Boardwalk is a great location for long walks and stops for a Margarita or three along the way.

All in all, the Garden Suites is a really unique resort experience. There is a little less Disney characters and decor, yet it still has that Disney resort experience. I thought it was perfect for a parents only trip.

I agree with the Garden Suites at the BWI.

You probably want to contact the Weddings department, because I *think* that one night is included when you book a renewal. The dates for weddings and renewals book up SO fast, you really want to get moving on that before it's too late. All the girls over on the DIS Weddings planning board will be able to give you a WEALTH of information. Enjoy!

DH and I celebrated our combined 40th b-day and 20th anniversary in a turret honeymoon suite at the GF. These are the ones in the main building, with the palladium windows. Very beautiful and I felt like a queen. I'm a huge MK fan and loved being able to hop on the monorail and be in the park in just a few minutes. If I were planning another trip like it, I'd also consider a king bed room on the 14th floor of the CR. I've got to imagine that if you have a room overlooking the MK, that view must be stunning.

For dinner plans, if I were staying at the GF, I would just have them arrange for private dining. Maybe something on their 3rd floor balcony, or if it's a nice night, they could do something over by the Sago Cay and you could time it all with the fireworks. They do an amazing job and unless you require things like lighting and privacy panels setup, the cost isn't much more than a signature dinner.

I would do Poly concierge with an MK view! Maybe a dinner at Victoria & Alberts. There are suites at the Poly other than King Kam, like the Princess and ambassader suites. A renewal on the beach would be amazing!

there is also the 3-bedroom Grande Villa at most of the DVC resorts.

look at each resort (listed above) - once the resort has come up - look for the 360 degree room tour. (at the bottom of the page)

hopefully shortly by 2010 at least - the CRV will be added. those will be the best - at the top of the CRV with open windows to the MK!!!!

My 40th is January 17.

I was planning to have a huge party, but just last weekend was thinking about heading to WDW instead.

Of course I've been trying to talk myself out of it ever since.

I made up a list of things I'd love to do there- you know a list of things I'd never be able to book this late in the game.

For kicks I called WDW dining and asked about booking V&A on my birthday- no problem

Called to see if I could book a fireworks cruise for the following night- I got the breathless

Looked at the theme parks board tonight and found out there's a princess and pirate party the last night I plan to be there.

Checked Jetblue- flights are only $89.00 each way.

I haven't made up my mind yet, but it looks like a possibility.

I'd pick the Grand Floridian!!! It is so elegant and beautiful and hey you only turn 40 once.

On my 40th and our 15th anniversary we bought 150 points at the BWV DVC-- Best birthday and anniversary gift I ever got!!!

I'm going at the end of this month for my 40th! A friend is moving to Hong Kong and we planned this last minute trip - the DH and DDs are staying at home - and are they bummed!
We are staying at AKL since I don't think I would stay there with the DH and DDs since they are all partial to GF or Poly.
If money weren't an object (and my DH was with me) I think I'd stay in the GF main building in a turret (sp?) room.

I was there last year for my 40th. We stayed at WL . We went to AK because I wanted to ride EE for the 1st time on my b'day. We had dinner at Kona then watched the water parade and fireworks from the Poly beach.

My dream is the Poly so if money was no object that is what I would pick. I celebrated with my parents, DH and DSs. I can't imagine a better place to be than WDW for your 40th. Of course , the vow renewal adds another element. The GF and the wedding pavillion may be the way to go. Happy planning.

I would do the Deluxe Room CL at BWI it is huge and has a great view. GF just isnt my style but others do love it. I am sure it will be magical whatever you choose.

DH and I both turned 40 exactly 1 month apart this summer. Our plans were for either a trip to Hawaii or back to St. Martin where we went on our honeymoon 18 years ago. However, if you look at my siggy, you'll see that 13 of us are traveling to WDW to celebrate our 40th!

We decided we needed to take our girls with us since we always bring them everywhere--life is short and kids don't always want to hang out with their parents. We are blessed with 2 happy and fun DDs who think we are still , and I quote my DD13--"pretty cool". After my cousin (like a sister) asked to tag along (20+ WDW trips)-- we were excited for the experienced company and kids to share rides with my DDs. She asked her parents along and we gave my parents the trip for Christmas-- here we are! I truly feel that for us-- the more the merrier -- be sure to make yourselves happy with that choice.

Our plans are for lunch at Le Cellier, Dinner x 2 at Kona, Crystal Palace, Hoop Dee Doo Review for Thanksgiving dinner, Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch and our biggie is Artist's Point (just my family of 4) for our "Birthday" dinner. They are all of my choosing-- which I guess means I'm responsible if it doesn't work...

I'd splurge for concierge if we hadn't splurged for my parents' gift. I say splurge within your means-- so you don't regret it (I know, how can you regret anything at WDW...but it can happen). Get MK view or concierge or even a suite. I'd personally cut days to stay in a higher level room. Make it fun-- it's not all about the money you spend-- I love Shmily1's quote--

Have a blast and go for it!!
