I heard on the news this morning that Disney sold 30 acres just north of MK. I know exactly where this land is. It is between my home and MK. They are going to build luxury town-homes there. If you bought there, you could literally walk to MK from your home. It would take you maybe ten to fifteen minutes, but you would be able to do so.

Holy Cow! If only...can you imagine what they would cost! :faint:

I saw that on the news this morning too with a graphic of the property area. can't wait to see the list prices on those units. :crazy2:

Why are they selling land, can't they use it for something else, or do they have plenty of land?

Me thinks DH needs to get himself another raise...;)

I'm quite certain that the price tags for these will be sky-high...but oh how awesome would that be!!!!

Oh this would be a dream come true for us. :cloud9: When would they be starting construction and is there any info online that I could find? Not that we could afford this, but it would be nice to start dropping hints to my DH! :rolleyes1

If you could walk to the MK in 10-15 minutes, wouldn't that be closer than the Contemporary??

Personally, I don't like that idea.

That is awesome. Imagine living that close. But like others said, I can imagine how high the price is. no doubt we wouldn't be able to afford one of those. :sad2:

No, considering the Contemporary is basically in the MK's parking lot. *chuckles* I think she means you could walk to the Disney Property, not necessarily the front gate.

:cool1: Sounds like a great location to me! I wonder how much for a small one bedroom....... :rolleyes1

This sounds like a plan. Then DH and I wouldn't get lost. :rotfl: We just got back from our first off-site trip to Orlando and we could never get back to our condo without getting lost. We were frustrated the first couple of nights but by the end of the trip we were laughing at ourselves. We tried to leave Orlando around 4pm Firday afternoon (from SeaWorld) and couldn't find a I-4-east on ramp. We ended up going through endless toll boths...turning around and paying the same toll again....stuck in huge toll booth trafic jams....etc....Tell me Feralpeg...is it easy to get lost...or are we total goofs?

Nope you could actually walk to the magic kingdom. :teeth: If I'm reading the map right (there are already some apts. close by there, on Reams Rd. right?), basically you are right next to backstage MK. So if you are a CM then you could walk to the MK soooo easily. But alas, if you aren't a CM, no ID would mean a loooooooong walk back around. :confused3

That is correct. Off Reams Road, there is an entrance to WDW property. That is where the CMs park for MK. That is also where Disney University, Disney's main security and the maintenance area for the monorail and railroad reside. If you were to take the road from Reams straight south about two blocks, you would be at the back of MK (Toontown). You can actually drive around there and find yourself next to Space Mountain and the Contemporary. I take that route on a regular basis when I am making deliveries to the MK resorts. It is about five minutes from my house.

Before long, I'm sure they will post a sign stating the starting price for the townhomes. When they do, I'll post it. The homes they are building at the corner of Reams Road and CR536 (just down the street from this location) start at $300,000.

Do you think they'd mind rerouting the monorail for me? :teeth:
