If you use cloth diapers to save money, did you use them on your Disney vacation?

I CDed DS. At Disney, we used disposables for a few reasons:
1 - Were flying and had limited room in our luggage.
2 - We didn't want to do any laundry on vacation.
3 - We didn't have a W/D in our room.
4 - Overall, disposables were more convenient and less stressful, since I didn't have to think about wetbags, going home to do wash, etc.

If we had a W/D, I might have tried disposables in the park and CD when out of the park. Although, I think my DH would have said no CD on vacation at all. Even though I found it much less stressful to just do disposables the whole time, if not using them will stress you out, then definitely figure out the best way to make it work.

I'm always surprised to hear that DH's are the ones to say "no" to cloth at times- mine has always been very Pro-CD and even talked one of his friend's into buying a diaper stash for his wife when she was pregnant! He's also the odd man out and prefers prefolds over anything else! If DH had his way, we'd never have a disposable in our house or on our son.

He was actually a pretty big supporter of CD. However, he also helps a lot with laundry. I don't think that he wanted any chance that he would have to help with laundry over vacation. :rotfl:

we did disneyland in 2009 when dd2 was just shy of 2 years old and we brought disposables for her and im glad we did because i would have had zero energy to deal with washing and drying diapers after long days out having fun and using all my energy! :thumbsup2

just something to keep in mind, if you do decide to go with disposables make sure you have bottoms that will stay on without the cloth diaper butt!

I KNOW! We dealt with a rash for a while this summer and I was frustrated with the fit of all of his clothes! He's got a tiny little waist/behind anyway so the cloth helped him fit into the same size top as bottom... but in disposables- NO WAY! The change in the harness in his seatbelt is a difference too!

We used them in Disneyland and the Beach this summer. We brought our Flips (which are similar to Gdiapers) which have disposable inserts. We hand washed the covers in the sink each night, which got them "clean enough." We did not have access to a washer. We used our Bum Genius with hemp at night and just rinsed it really well in the morning before putting it in the wet bag. They washed up fine at home. If we were using Bum Genius the whole time, I am not sure we would have done it (well, that and we don't have enough diapers!). My husband said "Never again" after a disposable leaked all over him when we were flying at Thanksgiving.

Now, that said, we will likely get disposable for our Disney Cruise next summer. I asked a similar question and people pointed out you don't know what sort of residue is in the washers and may get onto the diapers. And uninformed people also freaked out at the thought of diapers in the washer and I decided I didn't want to deal with that attitude if someone objected in the laundry room!
