If you Rode Forbidden Journey...POST HERE! :) (Spoilers)

Forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere else, but does anyone know if baby-swap is available on FJ? My husband and I are both dying to ride during our preview Sunday or Monday - but our 6-yr-old isn't tall enough yet. :(

I didn't see a baby swap OR single rider line. They did have three lines according to my husband but nothing that was labeled single rider or baby swap. I would assume by the opening these questions along with express pass lines will be set up. IF it were me, and I was going right after opening at all this year, I would be looking for the express pass, and if they have it, I would purchase that in a heart beat. We had them this trip (compliments of Universal) and they were worth their weight in gold! I didn't use them on FJ. Either way if it's set up or not, ask a TM, they will probably set up somthing for you. Good luck and Enjoy :-)

Let us know if you were able to use baby swap...we have a 7mo old and plan to walk through the que and then wait while one rides with DD (7) and then swap. I would doubt they would not have baby swap, especially if the lines get to a 3 hour long wait after it opens. :confused3

How do these seats compare to say, Soarin? I've never been to US before but we're thinking about heading this fall... I'm a big girl but I can do Soarin', so that would be a good comparison for me. :) Are they much smaller? Or about the same size?

That's a tough one for me because that is the one ride that I haven't ridden. Both my DD and DH have been on,but this trip the line was too long and FP's were all gone by the time we got there, and the last trip in Nov 09 I stayed outside with my DD3 while she napped. According to my husband it's more like Hulk than Soarnin', however I don't know how accurate that is. :confused3

Sorry, just to clarify, that would be after entering the queue? Are they free?

Yes just as you walk through the doors at Hogwarts to thr right are three(i think) little rooms filled from top to bottom with limited time FREE lockers. Myself along with several others had trouble opening the locker and needed the attendent. it kept telling us that our fingerprints didnt match. It was a little frustrating knowing the time limit. I think it took about 10 mins to get in. Just another bug to be worked out im sure. If I wasn't limited on time that day I wouldn't have been so stressed about it.

That is not a good comparison cuz soarin has no sides on the seats and no over the shoulder harness...If you have a large upper body or belly you wikll not be able to ride....if you fit on Hulk or Dueling dragons youll fit on this.....Everyone fits on soarin because Disney engineers rides with everyone in mind

rjvose...In your opinion...Do you think WWofHP lives up to the hype? I know you enjoyed it and thought it was cool, ect....but we've been hearing about it for so long and heard and imagined so much about it, I was thinking it has alot to live up to, a pretty high bar. So, from your reports, yes, it's good...but did it live up to the hype and your expectations?

rjvose - i consider myself having a bad lower back. i take care not to ride crazy jerky rides but do ride Everest at AK, Big thunder Mountain at MK, etc. but was thinking of avoiding spiderman and simpsons. How does FJ compare if I am worried about a bad back/neck? i am saving US for the last leg of my trip so if I am "injured" at least I did disney, US and saving IOA for last. Do you think it is really rough physically? thanks!

To be perfectly honest, and by no means degrading or synical or any other mis- interpuritations because its different for every one....No, it didnt live up. There are a few things that missed for me personally. I am not saying that I didn't love it and that I cried once I got in, Im not sure if it was more for the fact that I could say I got in, or for the beauty or a combination of factors. But to be blunt, it missed a few marks. My marks being, I didn't see a good interp. of characters like Malfoy, I expected there to be a little more creepyness to the back alleys, size. It's very small, smaller than all the lands I think, merchandise it was limited. I was looking forward to more shopping. I didn't even hear the trade mark harry potter music....and if they played it I must have missed it because I was listening for it. I thought that they could have done much better with Hogwarts express...it would have been neat to have it move around like disneys train at Magic Kingdom.... I would have liked to have seen some characters that looked like death eaters, wizards etc, that would have given it more of a different world theme. Maybe I personally lack there because with the snow capped roofs, I live in Maine, snow is the last thing I want to see in FL. I was hoping for more walk through area in the castle, and to actually be able to sit in the great hall. I know these things were probably things that would or have been discussed while planning and I understand things cost money. So overall my biggest let down was lack of real connection to the books. No mention of Snape, Prof. Mcg. Luna, Fred or George nothing really except forbidden journey and the small section at Filtches that mentions Voldemort or Belatrix...but that's my honest personal opinon. Now for all you who think I am putting it down, I am not. They worked hard and it will be a fun experience for HP fans. I am just hoping for a little more, call me greedy I guess. ;)

What about FJ itself? Did it live up to the hype? On the "wow" scale, how does it compare to Spiderman?

Thank you. I really appreciate your honest thoughts. They actually match the impression I was getting from reading reviews and watching the videos out there.

So funny you should mention the snow. I thought the same thing. Being from Ohio, snow is the last thing I want to see when in Florida, fake or otherwise! It seemed weird in the pictures too, hot and sunny, people in shorts and tank tops and then snow covered roofs and windows, which in some of the pictures the snow just looked soooooo fake.

Everything I've heard:
Mix of Spiderman and Soarin.
Scary. Not very scary, but more than Spiderman. Animatronic spiders and dementors and snakes. Lots of darkness, and you are hanging a bit.
Does not go upside down, and the movement is very smooth and fluid. Not jerky and rough, and not scary.
Queue line is amazing.
As said before, height is 48 inches.
People who are "larger" will not be able to ride. Very snug fitting seat.

Where is the chicken exit? My DD10 would love the line, but would not want to ride- too intense for her. Soarin' is by far the most adventurous thing she does- no roller coaster, Kali, SplasH Mt.

Thanks for the review but it worries me. Being able to fit on FJ is one but hearing about snakes being inolved upsets me. Where are they, how many & warnings they are coming would be appreciated. TIA!

There is apparently a chicken exit just before you board. There is probably kid swap there too.

Well, this Texan likes the idea of a snowy look but I can understand thinking that it looks odd in the Florida weather. We've always avoided Blizzard Beach for the same reason.

I would imagine that there will be guidelines released as to how big someone can be to ride. WDW has the Sum of All Thrills which is said to use similar technology. Does anyone know the limits for that one?

.....Everyone fits on soarin because Disney engineers rides with everyone in mind

complete myth.

The rides tend to be less extreeme because its Disney and therefore doent need the harnesses. Rest assured any Disney rides that do (like RnRollercoaster and cyber space mountain) will still be unavailable to very large people.
