Okay - I want to hear more about this weekend sporting event you are going to be shooting!! Does it have anything at all to do with March Madness basketball going on??? Awesome on you getting to do the shots! What a fun job - I'm sure exhausting but soooo cool!! :yay:
I wish!!! :goodvibes

I'm on the low end of the totem pole photographing local high school teams for a local weekly newspaper.

The reason why I'm so jazzed about it is that it's my high school that has advanced in the state tournement. :teeth:

Didja notice my weight loss ticker that you insisted I have to track my project recently moved 4 lbs. in the WRONG direction??? :confused3:

Insisted! Insisted!............

okay fine I did insited it, but I thought it would help.

How was I supposed to know you misunderstood its purpose, at least now you know that the number is supposed to get higher not smaller :thumbsup2

You are back on track, hey it happens to the best of us don't let it get you down. We will all just forget this little misunderstanding and pretend it did not happen :grouphug:

True, and I've always had trouble in a math...

Yay, another December PTR! Joining in... now to go back and read :goodvibes

Sorry for the belated response. I don't think I've slept since... my surgery...

Glad to have you along for the ride, journey, adventure, whatever you want to call it!

I’m not going to lie… I’m exhausted. AND I didn’t exactly eat the best this weekend. I did good on my portion control though, so the scale has not tipped in the wrong direction [again…] NOR has it tipped in the right direction… :scratchin C’est la vie! I had to cover the pep rally for the paper on Friday, scrap day and game on Saturday, I had two photo shoots on Sunday (headshots for my SIL and a charity event for Morgan), then I made DS play hooky from preschool and we went to the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis yesterday since I had a day off from school myself…

The basketball game was amazing. There are no other words to describe it. We won. By 3 points. Our boys handed their opponent their first loss of the season to earn their spot in the championship. Here are a couple of pictures:

This young gentleman hit both the game tying shot at half time, and also our game winner.

This young gentleman is our big man under the basket… he came up big when he needed to.

But we’re going to the State Finals this coming Saturday… and I’ll be on the sidelines. I just have to keep out of the hospitality room. :rolleyes1

Before I went to the basketball game, I did manage to get a “little” scrapbooking done:

There is the start of our decorations. These two lovely little beings will live over top of the headboards of the beds with some text. I think they turned out really good. I struggle with the “people” characters… I never feel I get their eyes just right, but I was pleased with how Alice came out. Jiminy was fun to build! I love the Cricut cartridge (Disney Classics) that I used… I can’t wait to get my hands on it again and really get to work on it.

My girls and I are tentatively planning another scrap day in a couple weeks – none of us feel like we got enough done on Saturday, so we’re hoping to secure another day over spring break. That’s a good thing too… I’ve still not scraped Disney on Ice and that was in January…

That also gives me time to find the right kind of paper I want to use for our text. We decided to cut the text out in red letters, but I want to put a brushed gold around it as a backdrop (or “shadow”) to make it look clean and classy to go along with the Boardwalk’s décor. I’m going to have ANOTHER look at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn around here. I may try to convince DH to let me stop at Michael’s in Indianapolis on the way to the game Saturday, but being that I have to be there SUPER early, I may not want to press my luck! :rotfl2:

Those pictures are amazing!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 And the pieces you have made for your stay are awesome! I would say you are blessed with creativity!!

Congrats on your high school getting into the state championship, too! :cheer2:

Kwitch, Great photos! :thumbsup2 Congrats to the team & good luck at State's. I can't get over all the people at the game! Great community support for those kids! :goodvibes

The characters are really good, too. I am not a crafty person by any means. I can barely cut wrapping paper.

All caught up! It took me a while. :goodvibes

Man, I am sorry about surgery and lack of sleep. I hope you feel better real soon!!

Love Alice and Jiminy, btw! :goodvibes

I can take photos and push some buttons on a machine. I'm decent at design, but E trumps me there as well. If you think my stuff is good, you should see her work... :worship:

I can't draw to save my life.

Congrats on your high school getting into the state championship, too! :cheer2:
Thanks. We didn't win Saturday night, but our boys played their hearts out. We couldn't get a shot to fall - they took good shots but there was some kind of magnetic force that popped the ball out of the rim. It was truely heartbreaking to have to witness it and then have to take the emotional photos after. It was still hard having to go back and relive it when I edited the images.

We do have an amazing community for support. We may act like jerks on occasion, but when something big happens, we're there. My SIL works in fundraising locally and said a lot of places have seen a severe decline in charitable giving since the economy went down, my county's charitable giving remained close to where it was before we were all broke! We do the same for sports. Even though there are 5 school systems in the county, we band together to support the kids during tourney time... providing we aren't playing one another! :rotfl:

I cheat, I use one of these:

I'm an excellent button pusher!

Thanks! I've been feeling pretty good. Despite all of the food warnings I've received, I've not had any true adverse affects. The only thing that seems to bother me are things with high amounts of sugar. DH brought home a sweet tea and I thought I was going to be sick. I tried chewing a piece of dubble bubble yesterday and achieved the same result. Of course avoiding sugar will only HELP my diet. :teeth: :lmao: I've done fine with spicy food though. :cool1:

As I prefaced in my last multi-quote post, we lost this weekend. It was a valiant effort, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Our boys were so upset. Our crowd was blubbering more than the boys. We really wanted this title. Had we won, it would have been our first state championship in 50 years. Yes, this year was the 50th anniversary of our one and only title in boy’s basketball. C’est la vie. The 1961 title is chronicled in a book called Yea! Wildcats! We’ve undergone a slight name change since then, but it’s still my school.

I also didn’t get much done in the way of scrapbooking last weekend, but it’s okay – we’ve still got LOADS of time. [Plus I’m still looking for the *right* paper to back our letters…] I did place an order for the right shade of red from my friend who hawks scrapbooking supplies. ;) Any of you who scrap know just were I’m coming from!

I realized this morning that I hadn’t posted a picture of the tree we’re going to decorate!

20110211103844.jpg

It’s a little guy, but he’s a cutie! Our plan is to strip the existing decorations and replace them with Disney ones. After our trip is over, I hope to replace the originals bulbs and pass the tree on to another DIS family that will be in the World the week after we leave! I don’t think I’ll have any trouble finding it a new home!

I don’t know if you guys have been officially keeping up with my weight loss ticker, but I’m proud to say I got to move it 2lbs in the RIGHT direction this morning! :teeth: It’s not much, but it’s the little things that add up!

Since basketball season is officially over, I’ll have more time to dedicate to the gym I’m supposed to be going to… :rolleyes1:

OH! And in my time away from this PTR, I took the time to watch Waking Sleeping Beauty. If you haven’t seen it yet, TAKE THE TIME TO DO SO!!!!

HOORAY! Jenn finally understand show ticker works, good on ya mate! Keep it up. Doing better than me...

I OD'ed on dark chocolate yesterday . I'm sure you don't believe me but it is true. I ate half a bag of kisses at 11 am and by 4pm I was sick as a dog and felt like I had been out all night on a binge drink! I had to take nausea medicine for chemo patient and french fried to feel better and even then I was only at 80%

On the treadmill, walking my first post-surgical workout! Currently 6 min in at speed 3.5 and have travelled 0.35 mi. Nbot bad for not having worked out for over a year. 39 minutes to go!

Workout went pretty good! 45min. Heartrate topped out at 144 bpm. I "travelled" 2.65 mi and burned 350 calories!
