If you put it in writing, you have to deliver… right? A Dec. 2011 PTR

Okay kids, I'm signing off for a bit.

Surgery is set for tomorrow morning.

Surgery went okay yesterday. They got me back home about 5 hours after I checked in! My endoscopy revealed that I did not have any signs of reflux and the doctor got my gallbladder out with no trouble.

I'm sore today, and really focusing on taking ibuprofen and supplementing with the pain meds. I do have a history of a post-surgical blood clot (in my leg) so by taking the ibuprofen, it helps to calm the inflammation from the surgery, but it also has blood thinning properties. :teeth:

I really hope this surgery answers my year-long quest to get healthy!

WOW! I'm impressed that you are home and on the disboards! :woohoo: I hope it is the answer to your health, too! Feel better!! :cheer2:

Glad you are feeling better! I can't wait to share some of my Christmas pics on my ptr--I am sure I have some of BW for you.

Thanks everyone!

It's nuts that I got home so quickly, but they didn't rush me out. I came out of the anesthesia and after about an hour and a half felt good enough to get moving home. Plus since I had both of my kids via c-section, I knew how to move without hurting myself. :rotfl:

Amanda, I can't WAIT to see your pictures! From what I've seen of your other writings, they'll be good!

Shocky - I'm cheating... I was DISsing from my phone!

Have you ever watched the show ‘Man vs. Food’ on the Travel Channel? While the Travel Channel holds a special place in my heart by continuing to show Disney shows to give us a visual taste of our happy place while we’re away, this show makes me want to forgo ANY more greasy food. Completely cut it out of my life.

The premise of the show is simple… a former restaurant “everyman” with a big appetite seeks odd food challenges across the United States. During the marathon that was on today, Adam, the show’s host, consumed burritos that weighed over 4 lbs., deli sandwiches that tipped the scales at 5 lbs., “atomic” hot wings that out rated the habanero on the Scoville scale…

I like burgers. I really like bacon burgers… but to sit back and watch the gluttonous goings-on of this show really struck a chord with me. Every time I over eat at a meal, this is what I’m doing to myself! The amount of grease that would drip off the food was enough to make my stomach churn in anger!
Now, since my surgery, I know that I have to be extra careful with what I consume until I learn what my body will and won’t handle. Several friends have warned me to really place close attention to where all the restrooms are, just in case. :faint: That alone makes me not want to consume anything greasy or spicy or sweet!

I have been able to tolerate broccoli and cheese baked potatoes, and I enjoyed some clam chowder in a bread bowl from Panera yesterday. I tried to drink some sweet tea and that did not react well with my stomach. I had to munch on some crackers just to get my stomach to calm down. I made a switch to tea since I still want some caffeine, but I’m not adventurous to try soda yet!

Going back over our restaurant choices for Disney, I’m feeling REALLY comfortable with our choices and how they will relate to my new diet. Since E is gluten free, a lot of the restaurants were picked to give her the best choices in food. I’m excited to be able to try some eateries I would not have picked without her input.

We’ve chosen to dine at San Angel Inn, Garden Grill, Crystal Palace, the Candlelight Processional dinner package at Teppan Edo, O’Hana, Sci-Fi dining, and the Wave. I think I’m most excited about booking Teppan Edo and the Wave! I love the teppanyaki-style food, plus we’ll get a show with dinner! I’m stoked about the Wave because it’s somewhere I’ve wanted to try, but with my kids, it’s not the top of the list. I’m liking the other choices as well, but you know you ALWAYS have a favorite out of all the places you pick. I know we’ll be able to meet all of our food needs at each place, and it should be pleasing to the palette as well.

What she should have said was E is gluten free and sticks to a Paleo Diet on a 85-15% time ratio. My system doesn't like too many grains. What is a Paleo diet you ask, it basically means if I was following it 100% I would only eat things I could eat, find or hunt in the wild. It basically comes down to No Grains, No sugar, Minimal potatoes, Minimal dairy.

So all the places I picked due to food options having lost a of veggie sides, that are not mashed potatoes :thumbsup2. For those that might be interested more about it go to www.marksdailyapple.com. He's my hero :worship:

You snuck in just before an update! Welcome to my adventure!

I have returned to work! It’s crazy to think that surgery was a few days ago.

In that time, I got to poking around the Lines app from Touring Plans. I stuck my neck out to see if anyone else wanted to help hold me accountable for my weight loss. I got some bad news on Sunday night, that one of the students at my high school lost her very brief battle with ovarian cancer. She was 17.

When I get down in the dumps, I eat chocolate. DH recently went to Sam’s Club and came home with a box of Whatchamacallits and a bag of Reese Cup Easter eggs… Well, you can figure out what came next. I’m still below where I was, but I’m really mad at myself.

Long story short, my reach on Lines affected a lot of people too. We started a FB page to keep us all accountable for our Losing it for Mickey. The group is already over 50 people!

I know I’ve got everyone here pushing and encouraging me… adding that extra buffer will make me do it now. I can’t let down a group I helped form, ya know?

Now that I have that out of the way… have you noticed my ticker??? Vacation is still LIGHTYEARS away!

I’d like to get cracking on our decorations, so we aren’t stuck scrambling at the last minute.

I’m still banned from getting up in our attic…
unhappy-033.gif
but I know that I’ll get up there soon. This coming weekend is my quarterly scrapbook day at my friend’s church. At least I’ll get some of our cut outs done.

I was worried for a brief minute that I wouldn’t be able to make it. My high school’s boys basketball team qualified for semi-state and the paper I’ve been working for (who help me make money for Mickey…) asked me to photograph the game. On the same day!

Back in the day, there used to be 2 games for semi-state. Since they reformulated to “class” basketball (

) there’s only one game. And it’s not until 6:15p. I’ve got all day to scrap and I’ll still make the game!

Having the later game also saves my butt from a friend of mine who has gone out of her way to purchase a Cricut cartridge I’ve not been able to get my hands on yet… Disney Classics.

I can’t WAIT to try this cartridge out. It holds images from Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio. The only cartridge I’d be more excited for is if they made ones for the parks.

I’ll be sure to share them once I’m done.

I thought about getting one of the cricut. Just not sure I would use it enough to justify the cost. Ok I hold you accountable and you hold me accountable for our weight loss. I like making meals from ellie krieger. Just think 8 months is plenty of time to take off more weight. You can do it.:thumbsup2

I bought my Cricut (the original one) used. The person I bought from was upgrading to the Expression.

I used mine to make a birthday card over the weekend. The secret is, finding a group of people who like to use Cricut and pool supplies. :)

Sounds like a plan!

I start to feel too comfortable with where I've gone, then mess myself over.

I must end late night snacking!

Hi Kwitch! Just made it thru the whole thread. :goodvibes Sounds like a great trip being planned. We went Dec 12-19 in 2009. It was busy, but not horrible. Love the Christmas decorations. I brought a few small things for our room & that was fun. DH thought I was nuts at first but it was nice to have the room look a little Christmasy.

Good job on the weight loss! :thumbsup2 My BP & cholesterol level were jup last year at my annual physical. I absolutely was NOT going to start meds. Got serious about cleaning up my diet & lost about 17 pounds. I have maintained 15 of those for a year but I still could use to lose another 20 -30. I have slacked off & didn't really exercise. Time to get back to it & add the exercise I guess. :rolleyes1

Our trip is in Sept, so guess I need that Douney bag as motivation, too! :rotfl2: I'll give it a try!
