If you purchase days beyond your ressie, how does that work?

Hi y'all!
First time poster here. I've read through the posts (most of them anyway), and didn't see an answer to these questions.

We are going to stay at the Contemporary 9/5-9/10 on the free DDP; if we buy 10-day 'no expiration' park tickets, how are the DDP credits allocated?

Do we get just one key per person with all of our park passes loaded onto it, and 5 days of DDP credits? Do we get a separate pass for the remaining 5 days?

What if we want to just lounge/shop one day and not use a park pass; will be still be able to use DDP credits for that day?

We'd like to get the most 'bang for our buck', and plan on returning to WDW in the near future at our timeshare, so we'd like to take advantage of the cheaper rates for additional days with the 10-day pass, but don't want to slip up and get caught in some loophole.

Thanks a million!
Kathleen

Yes, you will get your key that has the park days for yourself and all the credits for your family(each card will have their own park days and everyone's credits)

What if we want to just lounge/shop one day and not use a park pass; will be still be able to use DDP credits for that day?

YES. It is for the length of stay. The credits are good to be used at any time in any way (3 TS per day if you want or none) until credit are gone. They won't expire until midnight the day you check out of the resort.

Thanks MissMichelle!
So, if I'm understanding correctly, there is no downside to buying extra park days, correct? And if we have leftover DDP credits, they will not carry-over to future days?
Lastly, if we decide to stay on property in the future and use our 'no expiration' passes, will we be able to purchase the DDP separately? What if we were to go during a free DDP time period, assuming they have them in the future, would we be able to get the free DDP with just a resort stay and use our existing park passes?
Sorry to have so many questions, but we're trying to maximize the value of a longer park pass.
Again, thanks a bunch!

The dining credits will expire once you've checked out (midnight that night). I usually have snack credits left over and after I check out I stock up on snacks for the plane and home (MMM rice crispie treats)

Lastly, if we decide to stay on property in the future and use our 'no expiration' passes, will we be able to purchase the DDP separately?

You will need to buy a 1 day base ticket PER PERSON in order to get the DDP again.

No problem! Hope I helped ;)

Again, thanks a bunch!

Yes MissMichelle, you've been a great help. One last question...so if we book a future stay, we would just have to purchase a 1-day base ticket, would get the DDP credits for however many nights we stay, and could use our remaining 'no expiration' tickets for whatever park visits we make during the rest of our stay? If this is possible, I assume many guests use this approach to maximize their budgets, correct?
Again, thanks so much!!!

I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I have heard reports of guests rolling their unused no expiry tickets onto their new reservation. (for example you do this trip and go back next February and get the DDP and 1 day base, you can bring your old cards with the left over park days and load them onto your new room key).

The DDP on your next trip would be for the # of nights yes and you would only have to buy 1 day base tickets. :)
