If you own a hot tub, how often do you use it?

We love going in a hot tub. Even my kids. But we usually only get to go in one maybe 2x a year. I wonder if we had one whether we would take it for granted and not really use it all that much.

What is your experience?

We use ours several times per week. It helps that it is on a deck right off the MBR. It's easy to maintain. We love it.

We buried our pool and put in a spa right off my bedroom. Yes, *my* bedroom. The first year we had it, we used it nearly every day. I especially liked lounging in it late at night. Ours is sunk in the deck and surrounded by palm trees and ferns. It's sooo peaceful to lie back and gaze up at the stars...sure removes stress from the day! :goodvibes I like it when the weather is hot...we make the spa water cool. I like it in cold weather...we make the spa water hot and relaxing. This helps with arthritis and muscle pain. :teeth: In other words, it's great any time!

Lately I don't use the spa nearly as much...not that I don't want to, but snakes are far worse than when we moved into this house and put in the spa. Those ferns around the spa saw to that! We plan to move it up to the terrace which is at 2 story level. Haven't seen any snakes up there *yet*. But, before we can move the spa, DH has to do some reinforcing to the terrace to support all the weight from the water. Always something.

I have a hot tub off my deck. As someone else said, it is easy to maintain. I really enjoy it, but don't use it as often as I used to.

We have a pool, and just bought a hot tub. I love a hot tub. You will use it a lot if you have one!

Our kids would like us to get a hot tub. We have a great spot for one now in the new house but I don't think we will get one any time soon. I enjoy sitting in a hot tub on occasion but I don't think I would use it every day. We have a huge whirlpool bath now so that works for me.

We had ours installed over a year ago. It's right outside our Master bedroom.
We absolutely love it. I would say out of 7 nights, we are in at least 5 nights a week. It really relaxes me before I go to bed.
We had a cool morning this morning, so I jumped in when I got up, about 6:00 a.m. We had woods behind our house and a lot of times you can sit in the hot tub and watch the deer in the woods. Very relaxing.
My favorite time though is definately winter, esp. when it's snowing outside!

We use ours at least 3-4 times a week on average. Love it, get much, much more use out of it than our pool. Once we get our lanai screened in when we move to FL, it's going to be one of the first major purchases we make. I think one of the key elements in how much you use it is how close you have it to your house. Ours is on our paved patio to the right of the back door. It's down four steps, four steps to the right and in the hot tub!! We go in it even in the dead of winter. It's so cool to be nice and toasty and have your hair crunchy with ice from the steam from the hot tub and the frigid air! Yea, you're a little chilly running from the house into the hot tub, but you're so warm and relaxed when you get out it doesn't matter. :thumbsup2

A hot tub is on our short list of future major purchases---the master bedroom has a sliding glass door leading out to our screened-in lanai, so it's going to go right there. :thumbsup2

We had a hot tub when we lived in Maryland and used it several times a week when it was new. After having it for a couple of years we hardly ever used it and we sold it before we moved down south.

I don't see us buying a hot tub anytime soon since its so hot down here.

Ours is in our basement - with a garage door we can open if we want that "outside" feeling. We love it and where we have it is perfect for us. I have two teen boys who use it as much if not more than we do. I would say 5 of 7 days out of the week at least one of us uses it. It seats 7 so we can all be in there at the same time with no problems.

DS was recently diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome and I think the hot tub will play a big role in his recovery. We can run ours from 80-104º depending on the season. Usually we keep it hot.

We use ours maybe 5-6 times a YEAR. When we first got it we used it a few times a week - the kids just loved it. Last summer we drained it and left it empty all summer. DH insisted that we fill it up for the winter and we did. But we only used it 3 times. I finally convinced him it would significantly lower our power bill if we just drained it for the summer again. We actually added a room onto our house, right off the master bedroom for the hot tub. It has an oversized sliding door that you can open for the outdoorsy feeling.

We have one built IN our master bedroom - it hasn't been used since last Nov/Dec.

We bought one in the summer of 04. That first fall we used it occassionally, but DH used it almost every night...he is a night owl, and would go out there after everyone else was in bed. Then he got sick in Feb. 05 (see the GBS thread) and couldn't use his legs well before he got sick, had trouble climbing in, etc. When he got home from the hospital his legs were still his weakest thing. He then got a new job and had even less time to use it. Last summer it was sitting there and every time I would hear it kick on to clean I would see dollar signs floating out the window (our electric went up $40 a month). So I sold it for $4500. It was a marquis euphoria, sat 7, and I'd really recommend the brand, but I just wasn't a "let's go in the hot tub" person. I only really miss it now because DD#1 never wants to stay here with her friends because "there's nothing to do". She always wants to go somewhere else. But the money from the sale is funding out trip in 10 days!

We've had one on the deck for 3 years. First two years we were in it all the time, summer and winter. Last year maybe twice, this year not at all. Anyone want a hot tub????

We have had ours 2 years now and I'd say we average sitting in it 2x a week. I haven't been in it since last Sunday, but that's because we have been putting gazebo around it this week and it's not secured into the ground yet. But it will be cool when it's all done! :cool1:

We use ours about once a week. It would probably be more often, but neither my husband or I like going in alone, so we usually let our oldest son stay up late and climb in after the other three are asleep. He sits on the couch and warns us if there is anything going on.

It also really dries out my skin, but I have arthritis, so the heat is really good for that! I like to use it in the morning when I am having trouble moving, but again, I have 4 children to watch!

We're a small family, but we use our hot tub about once a week.

We use our steam shower nearly everyday. (Best thing we did when building the house).

i just bought my dh one a few weeks ago for fathers day/birthday.. he's used it quite a bit so far, i've been in it 3 times. i'm sure he'll use it a lot more then me, i don't want my hair dye washing out too quick!
