:surfweb: I know, kind of a strange question--but work with me, as I'm trying to understand the appeal of this show.

It's quite a bit of money and time to invest, so before I buy tickets, I'm trying to figure out if my sense of humor would match up closely to those that love the show.

So, if you'd pay to return to sit through this show again, please tell me your all-time favorite movie that would be considered a comedy.

TIA!:goodvibes

I haven't been in 10 years, I probably should try it, I forget what it was like.

It was entirely corny, but entertaining. The free beer helped. We probably won't go back.
My favorite comedy is "Coming to America".

Well the food suited my tastes 100% so I loved the food. It's about 2 hours long, so you have to take that into account for the price also.

Hmmmm... favorite comedies...

Well, I have a warped sense of humor, so the ones I'll throw out will scare you away more then anything.

I mean, honestly it's just a corny 'old west' stage show. And I mean some of the punchlines you can see coming from Atlanta :). They got me on a few though.. They have some audience participation which is funny also. IMO the closest thing I can compare it to for the 'style' in Hee-Haw..

It is pretty expensive I will have to admit that, but what at WDW isnt.

It is corny, but it's fun. You could try looking it up on YouTube and watching some clips. I know there are some on there because I've showed them to relatives.

Favorite comedies? That's tough. I'd have to say some of my favorites are Stripes (that's an old one, remember it? with Bill Murray), National Lampoon's Vacation (another old one), Superbad, and Grandma's Boy.

I wouldn't say any of those are like HDDR though.

I've seen HDDR 7 times and luv it. Fave comedies are anything by Mel Brooks(except Men in Tights), It Happened One Night, and Harvey. This won't help, either pony up the bucks and find out for yourself, or forget about it. If you think you might like it, you probably will. If you doubt you will, you probably will.

I'm not into comedy movies but I would compare Hoop Dee Do to a combo of all those "cracker" type comedies of the 60s-70s. Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hillbillies. Then throw in some of the Hee Haw type jokes. That's the level of humor in the show.

I do have to say one thing - you are not going to be bored. If it can entertain a thirteen year old male who went into it thinking it was "stupid" but had him playing the washboard at the end, it can work for just about anyone.

I have seen it about 10 x's. But I haven't seen it in years. I don't think within the last 10 years . So it has been a while. It's a lot of fun. Love it:thumbsup2
The last 3 x's we went my DH always got picked to be the Indian :lmao: .
I was thinking about going in August not sure if I want to do that or ride the Segways again in Epcot love that to.:confused3

Okay, thanks to everyone who posted. The youtube really helped.

If we're ever stuck in bad weather with nothing to do, I guess this is something to add to our list.

It looks kind of fun--not really my humor. Oh, well.:goodvibes

We love the HDDR!

I don't believe the youtube clips do it justice. It is really much better.

You're right, the YouTube clips aren't anything like really being there. It's a hoot. I was never really into that kind of thing, anything 'Western' really, but I love HDDR and I've seen it quite a few times. We're going again in January because my mom, who saw it with us a few years ago, has requested to go back. :goodvibes

HDDR is really a lot of fun, but not something you can just do on the spur of the moment. Most shows are booked, you could try for a walk up, but I would not count on it unless you don't mind going to the 9:30pm show

You didn't like Men in Tights!!!! Come on! I love that movie! Dave Chapelle at his best :lmao:

We love HDDR. It is corny, but great. We like the food, atmoshpere and we are taking our whole family there at Christmas. I would try it at least once.

Oh, and thought this doesn't really compare, my favorite comedy is "Oh Brother Where Art Thou"
