If you had won dinner with the podcat team where would you go?

Like DW said, we're thinking of trying something offsite if that's ok with the gang. We always rent a car so it's nice to venture off site from time to time to enjoy a good meal. We go to WDW a lot and have pretty much eaten every place we were dying to eat at. Not really a Victoria & Albert's or Narcoosee's guy necessarily. I'm not a real picky eater but we are more of a meat and potato family. Although, I'll try anything as long as it doesn't live under water. I make an exception if it's dipped in batter and fried.

My favorite on site meal was probably California Grill. I REALLY DON'T like Coral Reef (sorry honey...I know you like it). We'll see how the cards fall. We're definitely open to the podcast crews suggestions. Looking forward to whatever the destination will be....it's more about the company than the food.

I'm hungry now!!

I would like to eat anywhere with the podcast crew, but if I had a choice it would Jiko's, or Narcoose's, or Brown Derby. I find all of them quiet enough to carry on a conversation, and that would be a big deciding factor for me.

Since we also find this a very interesting topic, our thoughts are -

Not V&A, we have dined there and will never go back. We have spent more on dinner at other restaurants numerous times, so it's not the money issue -V&A is just not "right" for our style.

Prefer on campus, because it always seems magical. We only get to WDW once a year, so we would rather dine in a Disney restaurant since we dine in "regular" restaurants all the rest of the year.

We have already begun discussions with John about possible sites and dates since our next visit is not too far off, and they have been very receptative to accommodating our wishes.

Dining report to follow!

Skunkvette, you will have to share with us what you decide....I also loved California Grill. We wouldn't be into V&A's, wouldn't like a character meal due to the speed of the meal and noise/activity level.

I think we are planning something for around cruise time, so it may be too late for an onsite option.

I thought deciding to bid on the auction was the tough decision, honestly that was the easy part. Has anyone eaten in any of the downtown Disney restaurants? What are your thoughts there?

Don't worry team, no TREX or Rainforest for us!!

Thanks for starting this thread!! We have been trying to figure this out. We are having such a hard time deciding I think dh has left it up to the crew. We really couldn't decide. I would like it to be somewhat quiet so that we can talk without shouting, I am sure we will have lots of questions for them. (although dh and I are both so shy we will probably just stare at them and nod our heads a lot!!)

We actually said we would be okay trying something off site. Honestly I think we'd be fine at McDonalds as long as we were eating with the crew!!

I would love to hear others ideas so please keep them coming!

If it is offsite you must go to Texas De Brazil. I went to the one in Las Vegas the day after thanksgiving and it was worth every penny. I can't wait to go again. :goodvibes

We also have a problem since our trip is rapidly approaching and all the ADRs we already booked are for two but now the headcount goes from ???

Don't know if we can pull it off.

If we won a dinner with the crew: Narcoosses, Citrico's (never been there ourselves), Flying Fish (don't worry Pete---great steak here), or maybe the Yachtsman's Steakhouse (never been).

I heard from some of our friends that go to WDW area in larger groups that they love Shula's.

Ok. The real good answers of T-Rex and Coral Reef were already taken.

But seriously. I would let the Team Decide. I would love for them to take me to the restaurant that they feel is best.

Kinda like I do in my hometown when out-of-town friends come in.

Narcoossees or Brown Derby for us. Nice place and quiet enough to talk. I picked Narcoossees and my husband picked Brown Derby.

Shula's is a great choice, I had not thought of that. We used to go there all the time, it is very quiet though, maybe too quiet for a vocal crowd.

These friends that I mentioned do tend to be vocal and like to take their time in their group meals.

One thing about Shula's, I never understood the menu on the football thing.

California Grill, with a window seat and definitely around fireworks time. :goodvibes

Congrats & thank you for your generosity. :worship:

I would chose California Grill but would put in a special request to be seated in the wine room. With a group that size you would probably be seated there anyway. We have eaten there twice and been seated in the wine room both times. It is a lovely experience. Nice, quiet, intimate. That main dining room is a mad house! Can't imagine eating out there.

From there website :Each restaurant is themed after the 1972 Miami Dolphins' "Perfect Season" - the only team in NFL history to finish a season undefeated. The menus are hand painted on an official NFL game football

They also have private dining rooms that hold 15 so noise shoudl not be an issue if that is what you choose.
