If you could choose one and just one meal, that stays in your mind as being the 'ultimate' -where was it and what was it that made it so special?

On our last visit we did not eat out much (to our detrement because the food at the Explorers was very poor :sad2: ) The only half decent meal we had was at Planet Hollywood - but I didn't consider it to be very special. This time I am hoping that our character meal at Cafe Mickey and a meal at the DLH will provide us with something memorable!

I will never forget our first DLRP breakfast and I'd booked for the "All American Character Breakfast"
I have never eaten so much, it all started innocently enough with a croissant, moved on to bacon, eggs, sausages, chips! and then they brought out the most beautiful fruit flans and cream cakes - well I just had to.
Added to that the beautiful setting of the Steakhouse we were moved from Cafe Mickey for some reason and our first interaction with the characters - Wonderful.

I have to say that Character meals are the ultimate in my book, I love the atmosphere, the range of food on offer, the characters - I'd highly recomend the Tea at Plaza Gardens especially if cakes and puddings are your thing and next visit we're also trying the Character Lunch at the Lucky Nugget. :thumbsup2

While the table service in DLP are some of my favourites the troops favourite and therefore where as a family we have had the best meals are Rain Forest Cafe.
Food is lovely. The atmosphere is brilliant with much to keep the kids amused along with good food for them as well as mum and dad. Oh the bottle of red ensured the adults had a nice time :thumbsup2

I have 2 ultimate favourites, which unfortunately only happen when I go during the summer (and the park is open longer):

- dinner at Walt's: the closest I will ever come to a Club 33 dinner ;) Delicious food, and wonderful decoration, all related to Walt
- dinner at l'Auberge de Cendrillon: wonderful food, and wonderful decorations, very detailed (if only I dared to steal the china!!! ;) )

Favourite outside the parl: Manhattan restaurant.
Every time we say we will eat at a different restaurant, but on every trip we keep on going back to that one!

I loved the meal that we had at walts. The restaurant was amazing and the atmosphere was very relaxed and clam which was nice as the park was so busy. my daughter was also very well behaved .

Emperor Fish and Red Snapper at the Blue Lagoon - coming in a close second would be the Blue Lagoon Skewer, also at the Blue Lagoon; Red Tuna, Swordfish and King Prawn with Creole Rice. Both times the food was awesome and he ambience is second to none - sitting in a Caribbean themed beachside restaurant watching the boats from the Pirates of the Caribbean go by - paradise!

Our first meal at the Blue Lagoon...brilliant atmosphere right by the water's edge, gorgeous food, fantastic service and I got a bit tiddly on the free aperitif they brought us as annual pass holders! The colonial chicken curry is divine! Our second meal at Blue Lagoon....just as good, same main course, different dessert. We chose the one where you get a portion of every dessert, and it was to die for!!!!!!

It has to be the Blue Lagoon. Although I love character meals, our meal at the Blue Lagoon was not only wonderful food in a very romantic setting  (with our DDs present how could it possibly be romantic? :rotfl: ) but it was our very first meal on our first trip to DLRP and we were so excited about the coming days!

The Blue Lagoon keeps coming up top of everyone's list - we really are going to have eat there next visit. :goodvibes

Thank you for all the ideas:) The Blue Lagoon sounds to be the favourite - although we are not much into fishy food in our house - are there other (non-fishy) choices on the menu?

Have a look at the menu here as the other choices might suit :)
Lovely to have POTC riders shout Bon Appetit to you, well we always do :goodvibes

In Walts I had a lovely Pasta meal followed by Chocolate Cheesecake and my Husband had Walts gourmet burger which he is hoping to have again this time on his birthday! I also love the surroundings in Walts! Another favourite was Cafe Mickey as we had lovely starters and main courses as well as fun with the characters, what more could you ask for?

For me it would have to be lunch at Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel. Fabulous buffet and the best Creme Caramel you've ever tasted!

during our last visit last March, our best meal was Cafe Mickey! The food was really nice and fresh, came out at about 85 euro but had appetisers and couple of drinks. Planet Hollywood is DISGUSTING! I ordered potato skins (as I'd had them in WDW a couple of months beforehand) it took about 35 mins for our food to be brought out - after a 70 minute wait to be seated. it looked like potato peelings thrown in a deep fryer, no salad/garnish. I also thought is was very poor when we were there in 2001, so no improvement.

I think the Blue Lagoon has a wonderful decor, but you have to be in that "exotic" food, with lots of coconut and so, it's not my thing.
Oh well, I'll go to Blue Bayou in September, food options are different over there ;)
