If you had just ONE day at WDW...

start at the magic kingdom then head over to mgm and then hit DTD.

If I had just one day, I'd spend it at MK. I love Epcot, sometimes I think it's tied with MK as my favorite park, and MGM is a lot of fun too. I even spend a half-day at AK if I'm there for a week. But if I had just one day (assuming I hadn't been there in a while, and I wouldn't be able to go back for a while) I'd spend the whole day at MK. Heck, my first 4 visits really were just at MK, and that was in spite of the fact that Epcot was open for the last 3 of those!

Well, definitely have to have a character dining experience somewhere, possibly Chef Mickey's. Ride the monorail from there to MK. Fast pass to Splash Mtn., Space Mtn., Mickey's Philharmagic, and do Buzz Lightyear's ride.
Park hop over to AK and see the Man--TARZAN!! Ride the Kali River Rapids then try to go to MGM and do the RNRC and TOT.
Then head back to MK and see Wishes fireworks and afterwards shop at Main Street's Emporium while everyone dashes to the exit. Oh yeah, get a Turkey Leg !!
Then go back to hotel and pass out from Disney Boot Camp!!

If I only had one day at WDW..I would spend it all at MK. It is by FAR my favorite park and to me, it is totally what Disney is about. Don't get me wrong, I love the other parks as well. But if I only had one day, I'd definitely spend the entire day at MK with my favorite mouse ::MickeyMo

;)

Would you guys still do MK if your one-day (no hopping) was on a Saturday in May?

Trying to decide if we want to MK on the Saturday following the return from our cruise.

We do Disney yearly and will back in December for 10 days. Are we crazy to spend the $$ to hit the highlights of MK and to see Wishes for the first time?

If I had only one day at MK I would make sure that I see Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, Goofy's Jamboree, and Carousel of Progress (if open). And I'd ride the Liberty Square Riverboat. I missed all of these on my last trip and they will be on my list of must do's next time. Of course if I had a choice of parks for one day, it would be EPCOT.

:D

I'll tell you exactly what I'm going to do...go to Magic Kingdom! Before I go on my first cruise with my girlfriend and her parents, we're going to spend a day at Magic Kingdom. We're going on a Royal Caribbean cruise that departs from Port Canaveral. Since my girlfriend's grandparents live in Florida, we figured we'd visit them for a couple of days before we leave for the cruise. One of those days will be spent at MK. We're all extremely excited. We plan on getting there early and staying for the fireworks and SpectroMagic (if there is a parade that night). My girlfriend and I are already talking about what ride we should do first. My vote is for Splash Mountain. She agrees. We just hope the rest of the family does.

YES..I would still do it! But I'm just such a HUGE MK fan :D I don't think you would be crazy for spending the money to get the highlights and Wishes. Heck, we probably spend more than that on a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and a movie! ;)

Whatever you decide....have a wonderful time!

If I had only one day at WDW I would go to the Magic Kingdom. Would probably close the place down. (Might have to be carried out kicking and screaming!!)LOL:earseek:

Definitely MK......MUST SEE WISHES! MUST SEE WISHES!! :happy1:

Wishes is awesome so yes by all means do it. The Magic Kingdom can get crowded so another choice might be to do Epcot (crowds don't seem as bad there because it is so large) and then take the monorail over and have dinner at one of the monorail resorts and watch Wishes from there.

Hi, I am spending 2 days at the parks, one day @ WD the other @ Epcot. Leaving next Monday...I am so excited......... Can you tell me what wishes is? Is it the firework show? Fairly new to the board, I have done a lot of reading here, but still get confused with some of the abbrevations and such. Thanks!!
:earsgirl: :earsboy:

With one day I would hit Disney Studios the minute it opened in the morning and hit as many rides/attractions I could until lunch time. Then I would take the boat ride or walk to the Boardwalk area and have lunch at ESPN or Big River Grille and sit out on the Boardwalk for a while. then I would walk over to Epcot through the International Gateway. I would hit Future world for awhile and then wander through the World Showcase later in the evening and finish off by watching Illuminations.

Hands down, MK.

sflinch,
wishes is the new fireworks show at MK. It is almost as good as 3 sparklers and a bottle rocket :p

I had the opportunity to have one day last month alone in Orlando after a business meeting. I chose EPCOT. It was great!!! After doing the FW stuff , I headed for WS and had so much fun seeing all of the shows and looking in all of the stores without DH having to wait on a bench. I finished up my day in MouseGears going around in circles trying to decide what to buy. It's not something I would do alot, but it was a fun day!

I wouldn't do anything else. It is my first love. Wishes is a must see...
If you asked other members of my family, you would get different answers...

DD(11) would ride T of T and R n R at MGM then go to MK and spend rest of day there (definitely something booked at Cinderella's castle she says).

DH would spend the first half of the day at MK then go to MGM and definitely catch Fantasmic! (the highlight of the trip for him)

DS(10) would go to Islands of Adventure (Universal Studios)

DS(8) would ride Tower of Terror all day long (he really said that)

DS(7) couldn't quite grasp the question--he said the Disney Cruise. I told him he couldn't do it in a day...Then he said he'd split the day up into thirds and do #1 Animal Kingdom, #2 Magic Kingdom and #3 MGM. He loved it all. He's no help.

Magic Kingdom all the way!!

This is real Disney to me with all the characters and rides eg. peter pan, tea cups, dumbo etc..

I would also enjoy seeing the fireworks over the castle again.

It really depends on who I'm with. But I got to take three friends to WDW for just one day and we hit all four parks! We even got a late-ish start around 11:00 by the time we got the the first park. It worked out just about right for them. Here's what we did, as accurate as I remember it, at least...

Animal Kingdom
Kilamanjaro Safaris
Dinosaur

Epcot
Mission: Space
Lunch at the Land food court area
Spaceship Earth

Magic Kingdom
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Disney-MGM Studios
Picture with Mickey ::MickeyMo
Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster*
Fantasmic!

*At this point, one guy was all thrilled out:faint:, so instead of waiting for us on a bench while we rode Coaster, I asked him to go up to Fantasmic! and save some seats for us, so that worked out well. We got seats in the Mickey section.

Everyone ended up loving the day. We went to dinner that night and they were all talking about how cool the stuff was, especially Fantasmic! and the Safaris (although they thought the ending was cheesy and unnecessary), and PhilharMagic. It was a lot of fun.
