Would you do anything different?? Would you have bought into a different resort, more/less points, different UY, set up contracts differently or not bought at all?

The only thing we would have done differently WAS BOUGHT back when OKW was Disney Vacation Club and was brand spanking new. We were moving overseas..had just had our 2nd child and thought it was not worth buying into at the time. BIG MISTAKE.

Other than that....no regrets.

Wish we had bought in sooner!! OF Course!

And wish we had purchased multiple smaller point contracts instead of 1 - 270 contract - so we could leave a contract to each of our 3 children. I did use that reason to convince DH that we needed an add-on - and it worked!! :)

We bought three 100 point contracts at SSR for that very reason and then when we added on this past Aug. at AKV we added on 100 points. I figure if we ever had to sell off one :scared1: :scared1: it would be easier that way too.

Ha! Same here. We first toured at OKW too. Finally bought first contract at BCV when it opened. Originally we were worried that we might get tired of WDW! We have gone almost every year since that first time (that must have been about 13 years ago?). Most years have been two, three or even four trips a year. No regrets here either.

Two regrets:

1) not buying sooner

2) buying into SSR instead of AKV. I love SSR, but love AKV even more. A few months after our purchase, plans were announced for DVC at AKV. If we'd known that, we probably would have waited. This is what I like to think we would've done. In reality though, DVC was a b-day gift to me from DH. I didn't have any say in the resorts.

If we hadn't bought in 1997, we wouldn't be buying now. It's just too expensive.

I am very glad that I bought at AKV. Although I have now stayed at all of the on-property resorts (OK, not VWL, but I have stayed at WL) and like all of the resorts, AKV is still my favorite.

However, I do wish that I had looked into it more seriously back in 2004. I checked it out after a DCL cruise but only for a few minutes, i.e. chatting at one of the DVC booths, and decided that it was too expensive. I really should have gone to look at a model and then bought in then instead of in 2007. It would have been so much cheaper.

I wish we'd bought sooner.

I worry that I will end up wishing for a few fewer points at AKV and a few more points at BWV, once the novelty of the animals wears off and the reality of bus or car rides everywhere sets in, but we're still happy with it for the moment.

I wish I would've had a crystal ball to see DVC would change the banking deadlines, then I would have purchased a different UY. Our original contacts were in Feb UY and we travel in the Fall. We now have the majority of our points in an Aug UY, so live and learn.

I wish we would have purchased sooner. We honeymooned in WDW in 94 and I somewhat remember seeing advertising for DVC but didn't look into it. We love DVC now and have no complaints. We've been able to stay at almost every resort with our SSR points at any time of the year we've wanted to up to this point.

We can't wait to buy more points and to try out the new resorts both in WDW and abroad. Especially Hawaii. Our kids are 9 and 6 currently, I can't wait for the day I spend time at WDW with my grand kids in our DVC resort.

If we could do it again we would buy into Boardwalk or beach club over SSR. best location, notihng beats EPCOT at night

We bought into BCV's in 2002. I don't have one single regret and am so happy we made the decision when we did. Points were 84.00 back then, I cannot believe what they go for now. As much as we would love more points, I wouldn't want to pay more for monthly maintenance, so no, absolutely no regrets. LOVE this location.:cloud9:

Wish my husband had bought DVC when he first started going (10 trips before we bought)!
Wish we had bought BCV instead of SSR originally.
Wish we had understood the importance of use year.
Wish we had bought multiple smaller contracts.
Wish we could buy more points now(currently have 773 working towards 1400).
Did I mention I wish we could buy more now?

Wish I had bought SOONER!

When I graduated from high school, my mom and me went to Disney. We toured OKW (which was the only DVC at that time) and wish we could have bought it then, but my mom was broke (single parent who put me through 12 years of Catholic schooling) and I was just getting ready to start and pay for college. Many years later, after I graduated with 2 degrees and bought a house, I was planning a disney trip and remembered the DVC. Of course, by then OKW had been sold out for years and they had since built 3 more, BWV and BCV were the ones for sale. I had never stayed at either, let alone a deluxe, but I had always wanted to stay at Yacht and Beach Club. So without even seeing it I bought 300 points at BCV in 2003 and have never been happier. I wish I would have bought 600 there, I love it that much. It worth more now than what I paid for it, since it was $84 per point, plus other incentives. I did buy 200 at SSR on a cruise in 2007, but that was just so I could have extra points. BCV is my favorite and I feel very blessed to be able to take my mom and friends on quality vacations every year. My mom has done so much for me in my life, and I feel honored to be able to give back to her.

I would have requested a different use year. An August use year isn't the most compatible when you travel with a school teacher each year. A month or two earlier would have been ideal.

Would have purchased more points up front if we'd realized how often we'd want to invite family/friends to join us.

Ok, and here's an obscure one... would have chosen a different user name for the member web site. (Thought I was choosing a single login for both of us to use. Didn't know we'd both get a PIN and an account. My post card just happened to show up a day earlier.)
