We did 5 days, 4 nights with our 13, 9, and 7 year olds last November (boy, girl, boy). We also rented a car for our stay:

Day 1: Arrival in the afternoon at about 2pm, checked into POR, went swimming for a while/explored resort, late (8pm) ressie for Ohana

Day 2: DH dropped the boys and I off at DHS at rope drop, and DH and DD spent the day at AK together. DD is an animal lover, and the boys love Star Wars. I really wanted to go to DHS, so DH took one for the team and had a quality daddy/daughter day. They had a great time together. The boys and I took the bus from DHS to AKL to meet DH and DD for a 6:45pm Boma ressie.

Day 3: Epcot - we all went together for the day, getting there at about 9am, and stayed through our 7pm ressie for Akershus. Even though the kids are kind of old for princesses and DD has never really been into them anyway, this was really, really fun. The princesses LOVED DS13, and flirted with him and he flirted back. It was a really fun experience! We stayed for Illuminations, then went back to POR for the night.

Day 4: MK all together. We got there just after rope drop, a 10:30am lunch FP+ for BOG, 4:45pm ressie for LTT, and left shortly after dinner (MK closed at 7pm that night for MVMCP). DH dropped DD and I off in DTD so we could shop for a while while they went back and swam at POR, then we took the ferry back to the resort. We met at the POR food court for a snack before heading back to our room for a movie and bed.

Day 5: Kids swam in the quiet pool outside our building while DH and I packed, cleaned up the room in preparation for checkout, and washed a couple loads of clothes so we could bring clean clothes home. When we were ready for checkout, we checked out and moved over to POFQ to lounge at the pool for the afternoon and have lunch (shrimp po' boys and beignets...YUMMY!!!). At about 2pm, we changed out of our swimwear and into our travel clothes (long pants and shirts to g)o back to the freezing Chicago weather...booo!!!! and headed to DTD to hit up Goofy's Candy Co to spend the remaining 10 or so snack credits we never used (we will plan THAT better next time!!!LOL). We left DTD at about 3:30pm and headed to the airport for our 6:30pm flight home.

Where are you staying? and are your children boys or girls? also will you have park hoppers?

1 day each at MK, AK, Epcot, and Blizzard Beach is how *I* would do it.

Personally we skip Epcot. We only go there if we have time to spare!

We'll be staying at POR. The 13 year old is a girl and the other two are boys. I'm not planning on buying park hoppers.

We normally love Epcot but I'm not sure if the kids would enjoy it more than AK or HS. What do you think?

We wouldn't, but its a personal preference. We never found that much to see and do at AK, but while my kids like animals, they aren't huge animal lovers. They like Epcot for the things there are to see and HS for the rides and shows.

EP, MK, HS each for a day. And then one day for a waterpark. if you have time, I'd do DTD on the waterpark day.

My kids actually like EP better than MK! They like HS and like it more and more each trip. But EP has a lot more in it. HS is still a full day, but it's a full day of getting most of what they want done.

My kids were younger on their AK trips, but it was a flop all three times. I enjoyed it when we went without the kids, but it's no longer on our regular park list. Ask your kids too, as they might have a good idea of what they would like.

We would not choose AK. At most we do AK for 1/2 of day. I have a 12 year old DD and she would choose EPCOT over AK all the time. We love EPCOT as much if not more than MK. MK has been so crowded lately and so we go in the morning leave and go back to the hotel (or go to EPCOT since we stay in the EPCOT area) and go back to MK late at night.

If you don't have park hoppers I would drop AK, do MK for 2 days and HS and EPCOT for one day. Hopefully when you are going it will be less crowded.

Why would you choose AK over the others for a definite visit?

Simply because we're animal lovers and I just love the AK environment. We love the safari, tough to be a bug show, dinosaur ride, everest....ahh I can't wait until next month!

We'll be there September 6-13. It should still be quite warm.

September 6th - 13th are our days as well this year!!! It is very warm in September...only a few degrees cooler than July/August actually. In 2012 we had mostly 90 degree days and we only ran into rain one day the entire eight day trip. It is hot, but the lower crowds make up for it.

If I had four park days this it what I would do:

Day 1: MK
Day 2: HS
Day 3: Epcot
Day 4: MK

We always start at the MK and end there as well. AK isn't really our cup of tea and we are actually skipping it all together this trip. If we were doing hoppers this September then I might have worked in a half day at AK somewhere, but since were not, we have decided to skip it. AK is beautiful and it's a park that is more relaxed and meant to be toured at a slower pace; however it just isn't our favorite.
