Trying to plan and am really torn between 2 resorts. Looking at a 2 bedroom boardwalk villa, or a 2 bedroom at the bay lake tower. Will have 3 adults and 2 kids (age 5 and 2 (a month shy of 3)). Plan is for a Sunday - Sunday and will be doing a 7 day park hopper. We are morning folks, so we'll be up and out every day, with most likely a mid-day pool/cool off break and then back out for dinner and a few more attractions. Also will be doing the disney dining plan.

I'm looking at a benefit of the contemporary since we'd be going to MK more than the other parks. But Boardwalk is appealing with it's proximity to Epcot and restaurants for dinner there. The drawbacks I think are the opposite, dinner from Bay lake would need to rely on resort transportation (or back to MK), and getting to MK from boardwalk would have to rely on resort transportation.

Since we'd plan on being in MK at least 4 days, should I lean more heavily on the Bay Lake Tower or would the Boardwalk Villas be just as good?

If you are doing 4 out of 7 days at MK, I'd go with Bay Lake Tower. Boardwalk is awesome, but I spend a lot of time at Epcot, which is my main reason for choosing that resort. Have a great trip!!

The ability to walk into the back entrance of EPCOT to visit France for late late evening snacks wins out.

BLT, and it is a short walk back to your resort for a break (don't wait around for the monorail, walking is usually a better option). At BLT, the 1BR has 2 full bathrooms, you could almost squeeze into that size room as well.

For convenience to the Magic Kingdom I would absolutley pick Bay Lake Tower. It is on my bucket list! I think it would be so nice to walk to the Magic Kingdom in the morning for Rope Drop and then to be able to walk back when you are ready for a break! We like to take mid day breaks for swimming and unwinding as well. Usually only my husband ends up napping :D

Also there are so many wonderful restaurants for dinner right in the Magic Kingdom area. I might plan on dinner at one of the resorts in your area and then hop on resort transportation to whichever park you would like to visit that evening.

The Boardwalk Villas are in our favorite location and the transportation to the Magic Kingdom is fine. If I were to spend 4 rope drop mornings at the Magic Kingdom I would pick Bay Lake Tower! If you were spending more AM time at Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios I'd lean towards Boardwalk Villas!
Have a great trip!

I really prefer the EP resorts for the very reason you list. I love walking out of the hotel in the early evening after an afternoon break and simply walking to one of the many great restaurants in the Boardwalk area, EP or DHS (mostly EP!) and then walking around WS for the evening. Also love just hanging out on the Boardwalk and watching the entertainment, going to Fantasia mini-golf, renting a boat or a surrey bike.

I've stayed at CR twice and, even with the walk to MK, I'm not a big fan. I would much prefer to take the bus to MK for 4 days and then spend my evenings in the EP area. It's so much more relaxing to me. It just seems less hectic over by the EP resorts.

BLT all the way! the MK area is my favourite - it just feels magical to stay here! plus the walking distance to the MK with your children will be priceless! There are lots of restaurants available in the MK area resorts that are more convenient to get to via monorail or boat with children than the long walks to restaurants in WS from BWV, IMO.

If you are doing the MK at least 4 days, then BLT is a no brainer, IMO.

Enjoy!

All two bedroom villas at BWV are lockoff villas. That means a combination of a one bedroom and a studio. You'd have one king bed, one queen bed, one queen sleeper sofa, one double sleeper sofa and (in the renovated studio portion) a bunk sized murphy bed. The studio portion would have a kitchenette and separate door to the outer corridor. It would have separate air cooling/heating controls and telephone.

At BLT, you can get a dedicated two bedroom. That means it does not separate into two villas. You'd have one king bed, two queen beds, one twin sized sleeper chair and one queen sized sleeper sofa.

With BLT, you'd have access to dining at the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

That is a tough one, my gut says to tell you BLT since you have two little ones and plan on spending most of your time at MK. My heart is telling me to tell you BWV because I love the convenience to all the other parks, the walk to Epcot is priceless and I just like the resort better than BLT. I don't like the look or feel of BLT, I have stayed at CR once and it just felt to, well for lack of a better word, contemporary. I would go where your heart tells you to go or toss a coin or go to whichever one you can get the best deal at. That's a lie, I had the opportunity to stay at BLT for less than at BWV and I ended up doing a split with POP and BWV because I just could not give up the Epcot are resort. Good luck, you really can't go wrong either way.

I also vote for BLT. While the Epcot resorts are my favorite, if you're going to spend most of your time at MK, then BLT is the way to go. I also think the Epcot resorts are more adult/older kid friendly than the others, but that's just IMO.

Just throwing it out there... 4 nights BLT, 3 BWV. If not, I would choose BLT. You do have great kid friendly restaurants to choose from there, and Epcot can still be reached by monorail (love that with strollers... I avoid buses at all costs!)

BLT! I like the villa layout at BLT much better than BWV especially the master bath. Some of the BW villas are quite a long walk from the elevators. I like quick service options at CR better than BW.

I find it convenient to rent a car. Parking much better at BLT. Also at BLT you can walk to MK while driving to MK when staying elsewhere requires parking at TTC. When staying at BLT it's easy to drive to other parks.

Pick the resort closest to whatever park you will be spending most of your time at! You can't go wrong with either choice!
