I am trying to get a villa for the week of Feb 7th. I have a "back up" reservation at Hotel Royal Plaza but I would rather stay in a villa with a washer/dryer and a kitchen.

I have to move fast. Which would you recommend? I have it narrowed down to two - Orange Lake or Vistana Resort.

I am concerned about both resorts because from what I have read, it really makes a difference as to which section of the resort you end up at.

Please help!:earseek: :earseek:

If you have school age kids who like waterslides... if you want to play golf onsite at the resort... if you want a ton of daily scheduled activities... then I'd choose OLCC.

If you have teenagers... if you plan to visit Sea World or Universal for more than one day of this trip... if you want to be a little closer to all the theme parks... then I'd choose SVR.

Thanks,

It sounds like I would be better suited for Vistana. Thanks.

I have visited both. I thought the Vistana resort was a nicer place. Cleaner and I liked the layout and location better. If you plan to golf, then maybe OLCC is a better choice for you, otherwise, I would go with the Vistana.

When I was the Vistana resort in Aug., 2002 I had no problem requesting what section I wanted to be in.I would just fill out their pre-registration stuff online so you can put in a request ahead of tiime. BTW: I traveled with a 2 year old at the time and she loved the resort. It was very clean and so close to all the parks.

Hope this helps, Melissa

I have just booked my res. for Oct. at Vistana. Ihave never been there and the website does not show to many pictures or layouts of the place, how do you know what to ask for or even what they have, are they two floors, three floors,by the pool? I don't know anything about this place except everyone recommends it can anyone give any info or pictures?

Bump.....I too will be staying there in Oct. courtesy of a friend who owns a time share. I haven't stayed off site since the mid 80's, so I too would love to get any pertinent info for when it comes time to make requests. Any help would be appreciated!

HOW FAR OUT SHOULD ONE MAKE REQUESTS,I KNOW IT SAYS WITH DIAMOND LANE CHECK IN TO MAKE REQUESTS AT LEAST 72 HOURS BEFORE ARRIVAL, BUT IS IT WORTH DOING IT SEVERAL MONTHS IN ADVANCE?

WE WILL BE AT VISTANA FOR 21 NIGHTS DO YOU THINK IT WILL BE A PROBLEM GETTING TO STAY IN THE SAME UNIT FOR OUR LENGTH OF STAY?

SEAN.

There are 7 pools, I think, and all of the units are within an EASY walk of at least one pool. Most of the sections are 2-4 floors, with units on each floor. From what I've seen so far, only the oldest, 2 bedroom units have more than 1 floor. Most of the units are arranged with everything on one floor. Also, only the newest sections have elevators to the floor the unit is on, which can be a pain with suitcases. The Vistana is beautiful. It is very clean, and the staff is wonderful. The landscaping is incredible. The pools are great. From what we have experienced in our 2 trips to the Vistana, you cannot go wrong by staying there. The location is perfect. You are litterally only a traffic light or 2 from the highway that leads directly into WDW. Sea World and Universal aren't far away either.

I've never been to OL, although my sister owns a unit there. They enjoy it alot, and they don't golf.

But, we LOVE Vistana. Even if you get an "older" unit, it may be fully refurbished, and some older sections are "nicer" to me than the newer Cascades areas.

Last time we were there, we were in "lakes". The villa was great, and we love the "fountains" pool, which it was very close to.

I highly recommend Vistana.

hawt was kind enough to share this information with me, and I saved it to my hard drive thinking it would definately come in handy for someone else.

Vistana Resort buildings, from oldest to newest:

Courts
Falls
Spas
Palms
Springs
Fountains I
Fountains II
Lakes
Cascades

Hope that helps!
