...what would you spend it on to sustain a healthy lifestyle?

I'm coming up on my birthday this month (almost 34!), and I always get some $$$ to spend (this is pretty rare for a graduate student ;) ). I want something that will keep me motivated to keep exercising and eating better- I started this new program in Feb. and have done fairly well.

Here are my thoughts so far...

-An IPod and new pair of running/walking shoes so I can keep exercising on my off days from Curves.

-A food processor so I can make healthy sauces and such (especially homemade hummus!)

That's all I can think of...

What would you get?

I would consider a really, really good treadmill that I could set next to the TV in the basement. Then I could walk and watch some of my favorite shows.

I already have a great bike, so don't need one of those.

How about a really good blender? Although, they are not $300. I love to make smoothies and my blender/mixer/food chopper combo is dying.

Actually, come to think of it, I would buy the rest of the stainless steel professional cookware that I am collecting. I really love using it.

Give me time and I could spend your money for you. ;) ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Second the IPOD (in my case a Cambridge Soundworks Creative Zen) MP 3 player.
Music is pretty motivating.
Buying one when i get back from my trip. Dh has one and i want one too!

I want the IPOD, plus songs. I also want salsa dancing videos. My bigger ticket item would probably be a Gazelle (freestyle).

I'd get myself the Garmin Forerunner 301 for running and training.

I love my food processor and blender too - I use those a lot.

I also love my treadmill.

The FIRM was probably the best investment I ever made (along with my weights). Lifting weights has done more for my body than anything!

Unfortunately, my house is pretty small and we don't have a place for an exercise machine. Plus, I think I get more motivation by going to a gym.

I think I'm leaning towards the IPod and maybe a monthly subscription to Napster so I can download a bunch of songs.

i would definately get 4-5 DVD workouts i really enjoy -- pilates, yoga, WATP, firm; whatever works for you when time is of the essence

and and IPOD for sure, i'm so fed up with CD player skipping!

a stability ball and weights -- great strength training. i just bought a stability ball workout book and it's new to me but if you want more info let me know. otherswise i can tell you the Denise Austic workout Shrink the Female Fat Zones is great

btw- do you have good shoes?? that should be FIRST on the list -- good shoes especially if you are a walker or runner, go to a running store and get fitted for a good pair of shoes. you can always buy the next pair on line cheaper, it makes a HUGE difference

and if you are walking/running early or late in the day invest in a good jacket or the like that is reflective

oh yea, one more thing, Target has the BESTEST walking/running pants, very comfy and very reasonable

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who works at RunTex, so I might go when he's working and be fitted for some really good running/walking shoes. That and the IPod should take care of the $, I'm thinking.
