Hey Dis-boarders!

So, next month, my dh, dd and I are flying to LAX. Dh has a conference and so the daughter and I are tagging along from the Sunday to the Wednesday. We are staying in Century City and not renting a car. I haven't got a good sense of geography, distance between places, etc. in LA.

What sites to show the dd? Sunday, we have already decided pretty much - its a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits museum (my dh REALLY wants to see this, and I am sure it will be cool) and then a visit to the Farmer's Market for supper and a look around.

Dd and I are thinking of doing the WB Studios Tour on the Monday morning and then maybe taking public transportation to Santa Monica. For Tuesday, I am sorely tempted to rent a car service and going to DL/CA for the day. When do the Christmas decorations go up?

Any other thoughts? We have seen Hollywood, Chinese Theatre, etc. on another visit so I think we can skip this...

Thanks so much!

Best,

If you don't want to rent a car, Grayline Tours has one day trips from L.A. to Disneyland. Also my daughter and I stayed in Hollywood a few months ago and I didn't want to rent a car so we took the train. It really was very easy and not expensive. We took the subway to Union station and then the train to Anaheim, no problems.

Ok - good to know! That might be easier than fighting traffic. How long did you allow for the entire trip?

We used to live in Southern California and here are some things I would suggest:

Santa Monica Third Street Promenade and the Pier (has amusement park type games and rides);

Rent bikes and ride bike path from venice all the way to pacific palisades (the bike path runs as far north as pacific palisades and all the way to redondo beach).

Beverly Hills/Bel Air and the Star Tour Maps are fun if your kid is into celebrities.

Rent a kayak or surfboard at Malibu Surfrider.

There's always Hollywood, too - Mann's Chinese Theater, Wax museum, Start walk, etc. (this can get expensive though).

Hope this helps.
