If you "gift" your ownership, do you still lose benefits?

If my sister were to gift her ownership to me, is it still subject to the changes made a few years ago wit resale rules (no trading outside of resort vacations)? Due to life changes she's not able to keep it any longer and we talked about adding her contract onto mine. Thanks.

No, if it meets the requirements for a "gratis" transfer that doesn't require ROFR, then you keep the benfits as well. Unless something changed.

Just be aware that if you're actually paying her for the membership, that isn't a gift and must be submitted via standard ROFR process, where you must pay her fair market value or Disney will take it back.

If she's truly giving it to you for free- then lucky you!

Technically DVC is not required to allow the benefits to pass for a gratis transfer but they historically have done so. It must be truly free and with no mortgage. You can't do it for free then pay them outside the contract and be legal.
