Thank you! I wish I could ask my MIL but sadly she passed away in 2019. She was a huge history buff and would have loved this. My DH is going to check to see if he has any relatives in the Loxley area. His aunt lives just south of Newcastle…….maybe she knows. Perhaps our relatives did fight together- that would be a lovely twist!

Sorry no updates. We will probably check if we ever return back to my MIL’s village near Newcastle. Not sure how many “Hoods” there are. Hoping to go back in the next few years.

I'd be rather amazed because I'm pretty sure all my ancestors were real people.

Depends. I might dust off my very rusty summer camp counselor archery skills....

but

I grew up with descendants of the Jesse James family as childhood playmates. Un-ironically they were troublemakers and yes two of the boys ended up joining the 'family business'. They were very proud of their ancestor.

My uncle is into the whole genealogy thing. He did follow us back and we ended up in the outer rings of the Plantagenet line. Interesting by not much because that seems so long ago.

More interested in the other side of my family with it's Native American line and the fact that the 'Old Glory' Flag that is in the Smithsonian belonged to some Great-Great-Great Uncle.

I find those stories more interesting than royal or noble bloodlines, probably because they seem 'closer' somehow.

But it really doesn't mean much to me in day to day life cause
1. I live in Oklahoma, most of us born and bred here have Native American ancestory so no one really thinks twice about it
and
2. Unless you're specifically talking about the civil war or famous ancestors it's hard to work Old Glory into the conversations LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
