If you ever had kidney stones,

I haven't, but I could let the thread go without answer when you worked so hard to post it! I hope you find the info you need, and that you are feeling all right or on your way to a doc, or on the road to recovery!

I haven't had them either but worked 8 years at a Lithotrypsy center.

They can be silent stones, cause bladder/kidney infections due to the bacteria they can harbor, cause back, abdominal or lower abdominal/scrotal pain. They can cause blood in urine also. So, sometimes it is easy to tell and sometimes not.

Do you have symptoms now?

Never had kidney stones but have heard that they are way worse than gallstones which I did have. Let's just say that the pain for gallstones is EXCRUCIATING and non-stop.

So I think with kidney stones you basically feel like you are going to die or wish that you would to stop the misery.

but thank God have never passed one. I have many in my kidneys and have had aching as they shift around at times and some blood in my urine.

The pain is usually mid flank in your back.At waist level..can be a dull ache. If stones escape the pain can travel down and the pain could be felt in the lower back as a pressure or at the front in the groin area.Again, it can be associated with blood in the urine.

I have heard that a fever can also be present. If you feel you may have any of the symptoms..see your Dr. He or she can offer guidance and perhaps do an ultrasound to check out of any stones are indeed present in the kidneys or unrinary tract.

Good Luck..hope you don't have any!!

Well I can answer from first hand experience last year. Pain in my lower back. Felt like I had to go all the time but couldn't I also felt like I was getting dehydrated but couldn't keep any water down. I ended up in the ER and the minute I walked in (holding my back with one hand) the nurse told me I was passing a stone!

Good luck and I would go see a doctor if you have these symptoms or anything that is really bothering you.

The worst was upper left side, radiating through to my shoulder/back... sometimes VERY sharp, and then it might ease off a little. And then the pain might "move" lower. I remember wondering if it was some kind of weird heart attack:)

But no, "just" kidney stones.

It's no fun...get yourself to a doctor...Drink lots of water if it is...hopefully will aid in "flushing" them. And that might be painful as well...definitely no fun

Hope you feel better soon!
