if you don't need any 30min stop, would a taxi be cheaper than a towncar?

has anyone ever opted to just take a taxi instead of a towncar to save just a little bit of money?

it seems there are different tipping expectations for taxi vs. towncar (albeit potentially different service levels too).
so perhaps a taxi is a little cheaper than a towncar?

just remember that if you get stuck in traffic in a taxi the meter keeps ticking. I have sat in traffic in other cites just watching the meter click off, very disturbing!

We had to take a taxi from AKL to the airport and it was approx $50 for the one way trip at 9:00 at night. IMHO the towncar is still the better deal and much nicer to sit in!;)

And that's $50 before including the tip. You are not saving much if anything taking a taxi.

Haven't used a town car service yet, in any city, where the town car wasn't cleaner and cheaper than a taxi...including Orlando! Plus the drivers are generally nicer (no offense to any taxi drivers but with the exception of San Francisco....taxi drivers are mean!!!).

disneyberry,
Just for your information, the 30 min stop offered by these town car companies including FL TOURS, is complimentary-FREE. It has nothing to do with rate. As a matter of fact, the rate you’re paying for the town cars is in most cases is less than a taxi. Why not start your vacation in style?
