When I had my 14th birthday party a couple years ago(I'm 16 now), I just had people tell me in school if they were coming or not. Or if they didn't see me they could call. But I did have 1 person who didn't give me an answer until I was in the car on the way to my party 
Then another one who said she was coming and never showed up.
The worst one was at my best friend's birthday party. These two girls that she invited were apparently hanging out with their other friend before the party. They decided to bring her with them. Why in the world would you bring someone who isn't friends with the birthday girl to the party unless she said you could?
The weird thing is, one of them called ME the morning of the party to ask about it. I didn't know this until later because I didn't hear the phone, but why would you call me to ask if you could bring someone to my friend's party?
