How can you enjoy visiting Dl. during the time frame that HMH exists, for it also extends of course through Christmas as well, and I do not personally care to see the Haunted Mansion done up ala nbc specific theming, I would still like to visit Dl. during that timeframe, however, I just don't think that I can enjoy it as much, with that theming, so how does anyone else do so, if you have gone during HMH?

I'm with ya... I like the original.... I wish they'd rotate it and just do the overlay every other year... The original is more Halloweenie any way...

Have you experienced HMH? I am not a fan of the NBC movie, but I really enjoy the overlay every year. The music is great, the effects are great, the outside decorations are fantastic! If you haven't seen it, I'd really reccomend trying it.

I love the nightmare overlay my 3 yr old loves it too.

I like the original too it just nice to have a change.

It's *one* ride. I don't like Astro Orbiter at any time, but I still enjoy Tomorrowland, even if I have to pass by AO to get into the land. :)

In '06 when we tried to get on it by DS nixed that, I just didn't pay attention to the place. Easy to do, there's so much other stuff.

Directly no, for I do not wish to go through the expense of the trip, etc. only to become upset, to one degree or another, by what I refer to sometimes as the nbc takeover. I have seen ride throughs, on line, and have seen various images, on line, and off, and although there are various elements that I do like, these are not nbc specific, such as snow in the cemetery, pumpkins in the front of the mansion, etc. believe you me, the thought of visiting The Haunted Mansion, during the nbc overlay, just makes me feel sick, and gives me cold shivers down my backside.
I too, would not mind sharing HM, every other year with the nbc crew, but every year? that is just really not fair to the rest of us, that really would prefer, to be honest, to see it at all.

I dont like its a small world dressed up christmas and singing jingle bells inside the ride cant they just leave it how it is?

I dont think the entire park is done up in Nightmare Before Christmas style, just the Haunted Mansion. And even then, its mostly just inside the ride. Everything around the park is just plain Halloween and Fall decorations, pumpkins and such. At least that is what I have seen on the pictures on the Disney website. I think you'll enjoy it just fine. :)

I'd rather see an overlay from the Eddie Murphy HM movie than the NBC overlay. ;)

Gisele go watch the movie nightmare before christmas and then go on the ride dont knock it till you try it.

They do a really good job on it come on this is disney they dont do anything crappy do they.

I am trying to convince myself of that too, Bumbershoot, and I appreciate your post.
I think if i concentrate on what I do like, and just peek at the HM, I can handle it, maybe. he he! ;)

My dd (7) and I love the overlay! We actually miss it when it is not up! My dd really likes the movie although the overlay is what promted her to want to see it in the first place.

DD says that in NBC mode it is not as scary as in the regular mode so she enjoys it more all done up.

Don't forget that DCS is where they host the Mickey's Halloween Party. That place has great Halloween theming - the Candy Corn fiesta from last year was great - with Heimlich coming out of the Giant Candy Corn and talking at guests!

Fun is what you make it. Every day of our lives we have a chance to make that true. The HM changeover to NBC can't ruin your day unless you let it, so DON'T LET IT! :cheer2:

Perspective - If there is any section of the park that is so easy not even to go into, it's that one! It's a one way road to a cul de sac! There are only 3 attractions even in that area - HM, Splash, and Pooh! How easy is it to avoid 3 rides in a park as big as that! :woohoo: On a busy day, you can't even see HM from Pirates! (See, don't you feel the optomism already?)

Another perspective - If this was the worst thing to upset you in your life .... I want your life, man! :hippie: See - when you look at it that way, not so bad, huh?:thumbsup2

Seriously, find the place that sells the cookies you can decorate. Get some holiday themed fudge. Spend a bunch of time hanging around the pumpkins on Main Street. Those are cool pumpkins.

Have a good time!

I'm not too crazy about the NBC overlay, but my wife likes it, so we ride HMH multiple times during our November trips.

I think an "every other year" option is a good compromise.

You know, there are plenty of other times during the year to visit DLR when it is NOT a NBC overlay. I'm personally a big lover of NBC. For us NBC lovers, we only get a couple of months window to go see the overlay. For the rest of the year the HM is back to its old good self. Believe me, I LOVE both, but doing every other year ? Seems kinda unfair to us fans as well. I say, if its a big deal to hate to see, don't go during that time. Then you won't have to worry about it at all. Either that, or just endure it or skip the ride if you really want to come during Halloween. Thats the only ride that is themed NBC during the Holidays. The rest of the park is just themed specific to holidays, not movie. I think you should give it a try, its a lot of fun :) My fiancee, who doesn't like NBC at all ended up liking it ;)

We love NBX overlay on HM. As a matter of fact, it is one of the primary reasons our family goes to DL for a second visit in December. Of course, we love HM without the overlay too, and we get to experience that in March/April. =)

Our DD has been a huge fan of Jack and friends since she was 2 and when stumbled across the NBX HM during Thanksgiving one year, she fell in love with the ride.

If you haven't been on, you really should try it. You might be pleasantly surprised. Otherwise, you'll know for sure that you detest it. It's like when your child says she hates some sort of food, even though she's never tried it. :)

We are big fans of NBC. DH bought a NBC pack of figures last trip and they are sitting by our computer now. :) We are going one day on Jan 2 just for the purpose of seeing it in the Haunted House and also to see ISAW dressed up.

Even if I didn't like NBC, I would still give the ride a try if I was there. I figure anything is worth a look. Then if I don't care for it, I don't go again. I wasn't sure about Pirate's Lair but people here said I should go take a look. Glad I did because I might have skipped it.

The last TWO times I was in DL, I wanted to head over to Pirate's Lair and we never made it. This time, in October, I am determined to go. What's over there, Budgie? I always hear some sort of stuff going on from the 'mainland' but I can never see what it is. Tom Sawyer's Island was one of my favorite things about DL as a kid and teen. Just love that rickety bridge! Now, of course, I would probably fall on my behind if I tried to cross it.

I am a big fan of HM and very anti the overlay. I personally think it's cheap looking. I love the movie, I just don't really like the overlay at all. Plus I hate that the ride is down for nearly a month to get it ready!
