Which would it be and Why?

I am traveling alone for a class and will be staying at WDW by myself for 1 night. I have thought about it for 1 week already and can't seem to come up wih a decision. I love the idea of Animal Kingdom Lodge, but by the time I arrive and check in it will probably be 3 or 4 p.m. I know Animal Kingdom closes earlier than the other parks and would like something to occupy my evening. I would like a resort with great transportation options to the parks, and decent restaurants. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be great.

If you only have one day I would do the Contemporary. It's walking distance to the Magic Kingdom! You can easily get on and off of the monorail from the Tower rooms. As far as the actual ambience of the hotel it is somewhat lacking but it is very nostalgic. Some of the other resorts are more luxurious but the Contemporary realy seems to be in the heart of WDW. Request a theme park view! With as little time that you have I would say this would be the best resort. You won't have to wait for busses and like I mentioned before, you can walk to the Magic KIngdom....no waiting. Other resorts are on the monorail but are not as close to the MK.

Good luck! Have a magical trip no matter where you choose to stay!!! :wizard:

IMHO, I'd do the Poly, only because I desperately want to stay there one day and it's on the monorail

Well, it depends on what park you want to do. If you are planning on spending your time in MK....stay at the Contemporary or the Poly. If you are planning on Epcot or MGM, stay at Beach Club or Boardwalk.

Either way, you will have a wonderful time.

Unfortunately they don't have availability for that 1 night. They do have the Contemporary in Concierge, and they had the Beach Club. They also had Coronado and Port Orleans Riverside and Animal Kingdom.
At first I was more concerned about Price. Now I want something convenient.
We always stay at Shades of Green when we go as a family. But, they had nothing available either. I will be traveling on Fathers Day and it appears it will be VERY busy. Since all transfers will be by resort transfers and my time is limited, I don't want to spend all of my time on the bus. (As you can tell, I haven't been OVER THINKING this trip) :earsboy:

I appreciate your suggestions. I just wish I was traveling with my family.

are you staying over Sat or Sun night? It seems to be Sun from your post, you may want to go to the rent/trade board to see about renting a studio for the night from a DVC member. Sun rates are pretty cheap and you could stay at Boardwalk, Beach Club or even Wilderness Lodge - if there is availability.

I would not stay concierge level for one night, waste of money in my opinion. Have you looked into WL or GF if you want to stay near MK?

If I were at WDW one night by myself I would pack it all in :cool1: , I would check into Beach Club, head to the awesome pool for an hour or so, then walk over to WS and eat at Le Cellier, get on Soarin and anything else you may want to see then head over to MGM for extra magic hours (which is Sun night until 11:30pm.) Go back and forth between TOT and RRC until I was ready to throw up my canadian steak, then I would head back via boat to Boardwalk and go to Jellyrolls for one drink or two, listen to some dualing pianos then call it a night with a big smile on my face. :teeth: Oh wait, what time is the bakery open until???? :rotfl:

But that is just me ;)

What are you doing on Fathers Day? You sound like someone that I could go to WDW with. My thoughts are Beach Club or Boardwalk also.
I hadn't checked out the park schedules yet. TOT and RNR are two of my favorite rides. (go figure that Mission Space makes me sick) I am staying over on Sunday night. For Dinner though, I have actually been seriously dreaming of The Teppanyaki Dining Room at Japan. Oh What to do, what to do, what to do! Do you see the Dilemna here. I want so much in sooooo little time.

I called back and they had the Poly available. So Poly it is.
