24-70 is a great option. I would also throw the 17-55 2.8. On a crop sensor your in the same range for $1000 less.

I'm shooting with a 5D MIII so the 17-55 isn't an option. LOVE that lens though. SHARP!

I own a wonderful and heavy 24-70mm lens for my FF and have rarely used it. I'd much rather take my ultra wide zoom (which personally I do not find limiting at all) and if anything I'd throw a prime in if I thought I might possibly want something else. If ever there is too much dead space because I wasn't able to get close enough to the subject there's always cropping. The ultra wide is so enjoyable as it isn't something I use all the time.

To everyone suggesting the 24-70, why?
I don't need/want that lens for portraits so what is it about the 24-70 that makes you think I should have that lens?

It's not that I think YOU should take that lens. It's what I would take based on the parameters you gave. The 24-70 a great, general purpose walk around lens and the only standard focal length range (for a full frame) you have listed. If I were limited to one lens in from what you listed it would be the 24-70. But the reality is that with my gear I'd never limit myself to one lens.

But only you know your style.

I have used my 5d3 at world and land. I used the 24-105 which proved to cover most shots needed and the IS was nice. Since most of your shots will be in day light with the exception of some night shots I would recommend renting the 24-70 f4 L is since its light and pretty sharp for a vacation lens. The is will outweigh the extra stop at disney since you can drop your shutter. Also consider a prime like the sigma 35mm 1.4 or 24mm 1.4 for night shots. I loved my sigma for dark rides. Everyone including myself is hung up on how wide open the lens can shoot but generally family requires f4-8 if you want everyone in focus so then here comes the speedlite.

I find myself walking around with 50mm f1.4 or my 17-40 F4L most of the time nowadays. I think I could get away with just the 50mm f1.4.
