If you could live minutes away from Disney World would you?

I would do it in a minute. I do understand the concern over losing some of it's luster, as having experienced that with another area, but it wasn't WDW! Even two hours away would be good as I wouldn't mind driving a couple of hours on a moments notice to have a great place to go!

I would do it in a heartbeat!!! My kids would be thrilled as well. The only thing I would really be bummed about is not staying on property. I LOVE the resorts!!

We are only about a 2- 2 1/2 hour drive from Disney World. DH and I have talked about moving to Orlando. We always say if were bored on the weekend we could just shoot over to Disney in minutes. As much as I would love taking my kids all the time I wonder if it would be a little too much. Right now we try to go at least twice a year. (Although now we just got the seasonal pass.) I just love how excited my DD is right now counting the days until we go and telling everyone she sees how she is going to Disney in X amount of days. Would living so close and going all the time take away all that excitement? Just wanted to see what you all thought.

P.S. Sorry if this has been asked before
Almost moved to Altamonte Springs. That was the year of THE hurricanes. Changed my mind rather quickly.

I am torn now about whether I would want to or not. And the funny thing is, now that we have made the move to Florida in the first place, my DH is actually thinking about it! (He did not want to move there when we moved here). We currently live about two hours away and I went 7 times last year.

We live in Sarasota and its beautiful. I love watching the sunset on the gulf. But its also very expensive and we both miss more of a "city" feel, having come from Seattle (although Orlando is nowhere near the size of Seattle but its alot bigger than Sarasota). My DH originally said Tampa but I don't really want to live in Tampa so we are considering Orlando. I have friends in Orlando and the thought of being able to meet them for lunch at HOB on a Sunday is very enticing to me. Or grabbing the boys and just going to the parks for a couple hours.

That being said, I don't know if I could give up my sunsets here. :) And I think I do worry a bit that the magic might wear off some. pixiedust: I may just need to keep my smaller town and pixie dust the way it is. Seven trips in a year isn't so bad.

Not picking on you Savsmommy, but it struck me as odd that someone who lives relatively close is pondering moving even closer.
Why would this strike you as an odd question? I was just wondering? (I do wish you luck however with your job relocation!) :moped:
IMO from her post, I don't think that her family is planning to make the move, I think that SAVSMOMMY was only putting this out there to get opinions and it being something fun for people to talk about!!

As far as the oringinal question-
I too live only 2 1/2 hrs from the MAGIC! I like living this distance. I am not much for living in a touristy (is that even a word?!?) town. pixiedust: In our current location we go twice a year and I think thats enough for me with 2 young children.

I guess I was just comparing it to where I live. I'm within a couple hours drive of several bigger cities (Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Lexington) and that is plenty convenient for me. Anytime I want to visit, I can just hop in my car and go. Seems like it would be the same to live that close to Orlando too, but maybe if I was in that situation I'd feel differently.

And, along those lines, maybe I will get that opportunity yet. One of the other guys I work with seems to be pretty close to finalizing a deal to work for a company in St. Petersburg. If it works out for him, and they need additional people, I may follow him down there. There are still a lot of things that would have to fall in place in order for that to happen, but I must admit I'm a bit excited at the possibility. I'll have to start reading up on the general area to see what it would be like to live there.

Yes exactly!! I just thought since we all love Disney so much I just thought it would be interesting too see how many people would actually want to live so close. Sorry about that!!
