where would you go? We are in Las Vegas right now, going to Disneyland in February, and are moving to Maryland over the summer. We will have about 2weeks to do whatever we want, and I am trying to decide what to do!!

We are DVC members who typically take multiple 2 week vacations a year in Disneyworld, and I currently have a reservation for this summer, but now I am wondering if we should change it up a bit.

I will have an almost 5 year old DD, 3 year old DS, and 9 month old DS (he will just be in tow anyway, so he doesn't count so much). Where would you go? What would you do?

TIA!

I second a beach house, anywhere on the Northeast coast from Portland south: Ogunquit ME, Hampton Beach NH, Newport RI, Plymouth MA, Provincetown/Truro MA, Fire Island NY, Myrtle Beach, SC....

I have been wanting to take my kids to Williamsburg, VA for quite some time. DH and I loved it when we went on our first annivesary and we keep NOT making time to do it.

He now works up in Virginia, so we may do it afterall at some point.

Other trips on our future docket:

California, Yosemite
Grand Canyon
New York City
Boston

None actually planned--but that is our family trip wish list.

We live near the beach, so a beach house wouldn't be tops on our list as a planned vacation.

Aside from WDW, I'd do a beachhouse or oceanfront condo in the Carolina's with kids. Easy to stay on schedule, easy to find stuff to do, easy to adapt in a new enviroment since you can keep the sleeping arrangments the same, easy on the wallet if you want it to be .... We went to MB last April with DS who turned 2 while we were there and it was great. We wanted to go this year but don't think taking a 4 week old will be the best idea ... will probably do it again next year but a little later in the month/year ... late april/early may as we went in mid-april and it was a touch chilly. Of course the next week was perfect.

So many, many choices:

1) California - San Francisco, several days along Highway 1, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Legoland, San Diego Zoo and Wildlife park, Sea World, the beach.

2) Western national parks - Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Arches, a houseboat on Lake Powell.

3) Mountains - Rocky Mountain National Park, Durango and the steam train to Silverton, Mount Rushmore

4) Calm beaches - Panama City or other east of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches, sea shells in Siesta Key

5) New York - Museums, Statue of Liberty, Long Island beaches

It really depends on what you like. Nature? Amusement parks? Relaxing? Hiking? Shows?

with a 5 and 3 year old I would go to the beach or Disney.
or do a combo such as williamburg but go to the water park and bush gardens mixed in with the historical part.

I would start in San Francisco, travel to Napa and do a wine tour, go to Lake Tahoe, into Yosemite, down through Fresno, stay in Cambria, up through the Big Sur, see the Hearst Castle and everything else en route, visit Monterey and the aquarium, and back home through SFO. We did it in 9 days, it was great. Loved it.

Taking the young ages of the kids in to consideration, I think I'd do a vacation that didn't require a lot of traveling. A week or two at a beach would be my idea of family fun. Or perhaps a city that has a nice zoo or small theme park- San Diego Zoo, Legoland, Hershey Park, Sesame Place, etc.

Since you are DVC members, what about doing Hilton Head or Vero Beach? They would both be great choices for young children. I think I would save the road trip vacations for when they are a little older.

Here is a second vote for the DVC at Hilton Head. We spent a week there last summer and it was wonderful. The cast members are superb and they have activities that your five year old could particpate in plus a pool party, fireworks, and lots to eat, see and do in the local community. Plus Savannah and Charleston are just a short drive away.
