If you could get back all the money you've ever spent at Disney World?

Would you agree to not go to DW ever again in exchange for getting all money spent?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I need more time to think on it.

So I tend to ask people this question about the lottery. If you could get back all the money you've ever spent in the lottery in exchange for never being able to play again, would you? Typically the answer is yes.

So I'll ask the same thing about Disney World.

Question: If you could get back all the money you've ever spent at Disney World (hotels, food, tickets, etc), in exchange for never being able to go again, would you do it?

Do I get to keep the memories? If so, of course. I have spent well over $100k at WDW. For that amount of money, I could learn to vacation elsewhere.

Nope.

Now, if I could get all the money back I spent on my son's travel hockey, I would love that. Older and wiser, and will not be doing that with the younger two.

But Disney, need to make many many more memories.

Greats question! My answer: not in a million years and not even if you paid me double! Future memories are not for sale! :)

No. I don't think the depression of never being able to go again would be worth having the money back.

How about just the money back from the one bad trip...That is out of 15 trips...But I would still want to go...;)

No way. I've never even thought about the total amount of money we've spent there, and I don't intend to. The memories we've made there are worth every cent.

No, vacations are one of only a few ways I spend money with no regrets.

If anything I wish I had taken more vacations, I can always make more money but memories and time are priceless.

I think it's a situation like when people who have kids (including me) wish they had their free time from their pre-kid years back, but what you really use it for? A nap? Uninterrupted TV watching? etc... In the end none of that is as important as raising your tiny humans to be the best people they can.

So, if you had every penny back what you spend it on? Bills? A car? etc... Are any of things worth never going back to Disney? IMO No. But as my DH will tell you there are people who merely tolerate Disney for the sake of their families. He'd take the money and never go back I'm sure. But I can't think of anything he would spend it on that would be "worth it" to the rest of us.

And as the budget keeper I totally agree with Viva Las Disney, vacations (once the big stuff is planned as close to budget as I can) are the only time I get spend without regret. The memories are what matters.
