If you could combine certain characteristics of each DVC...what would you do?

This is NOT a thread to start a DVC war, just some fun thinking I was doing earlier. We own at BWV which has a great location, but I love the look of OKW on the outside with its pastel colors and palm trees so If in a parallel universe if I could have BWV's location with the outside look of OKW and BCV's pool (SAB) and VWL's access to the MK with its boat, that would be my ultimate DVC. I can't speak for the beach DVC's as we've never stayed at those two. Oh well, guess I'm just going to have to try them all out eventually :)

Nice thought for a thread, lets talk about all the positive points for DVC resorts.

A pool like SAB, open 24 hours
A waterfall area like the grotto at the Dolphin for cool covered swimming in hot days
Rooms like Vero with the larger space, bigger kitchen, nice eating area.
Relaxing quiet remote location, still with boat access like WLV
Theming like BCV
Beaches and Cream close by
Views like BWV
Easy access to Jellyrolls

Hmmm.... not bad for a start.

I pretty much agree with your thoughts. We own OKW, but I do like the location of BWV (our last three stays were at BWV's). The size of the OKW rooms, and of couse the lower points make it attractive. Haven't stayed at WLV or BCV (yet) - actually I am thinking of switching our December ressies to BCV. Honestly WLV don't pull me much - I like to visit WL, but I'm not sure I'd stay there (it's a point value thing to me).

This August we will be in an OKW Grand Villa - I was lucky enough to get a tour (by the cleaning crew) of a BWV GV and it was VERY impressive, but for us the point cost is a little too prohibitive.

Say what you will (like you said, no debate here) about OKW, but ya gotta love the low points. Our GV in August is only a FEW points more than our 2BR was at BWV in June!

Personally I am happy to stay at any of them, we've been lucky getting BWV at 7 months, but I would be content if we were 'stuck' with OKW. We stayed at OKW MANY years before we bought, so it will always be our 'home' - but it is nice to visit the others.

So OK, here goes:

OKW: Size, point cost, theme
BWV: Location, activities, pool slide
HHI: Beach

I have not stayed at BVC, WLV or VB so I can't comment

We have only stayed at BWV (Home) and VB, but here are my ideas.

Keep the location near EPCOT and MGM
Add MonoRail stop for access to MK
Increase the size of the rooms to OKW and VB size
Add pool like SAB
Increase number of Buses to AK and DD

1) Point schedule of OKW
2) Room size of OKW
3) Elevator service of any of the non-OKW resorts (i.e., give me elevators!)
4) Relaxed atmosphere of OKW
5) Restaurants and entertainment of BWV
6) Walking distance to all theme parks with a boat option (if you gave me direct monorail access at BCV for MK--I think that would get around the walking distance issue).
7) 24 hour pool like SAB
8) Price per point of the original OKW (couldn't resist)!

View & relaxed feeling of OKW
location of BWV
pool & character meal of BCV

I like this thread, this is fun!
My ideal DVC resort would be:
BWV location
BWV restaurants and nighttime entertainment
BCV pool - SAB
VWL -magnificent lobby and fireplace (well this would really be WL)
VWL boat to MK
OKW- size of 1 BR villas
OKW- points structure
BWV, VWL, or BCV-hotel amenitites like room service, valet parking, elevators
HH-crabbing, fishing, dolphin cruise
VB- beach & ocean

Here's my vision:

An OKW type resort - larger rooms, parking right outside your room, elevators (like the newer buildings) around a lagoon like the BW with a large boat to DS, DD, MK, Epcot and Monorail to AK. OKW points structure, SAB-like pool with lots of lounge chairs and umbrella tables, a full sand beach with an ocean-like wave pool (like VB). Golf course around the outside on one side and going in and around the buildings (shoot, let's assign golf carts to each unit as well to drive around the resort). BW-type restaurants and activities, with a food court like WL. And a store with lots of DVC merchandise - just about anything you could imagine. And a primo view of the fireworks.

And you'd have to show or scan your room key to get in. Laser cannons for the cheaters!

Ok here goes! Pick up OKW and drop it right where BWV is. So now we have a laid back resort with larger rooms and parking next to your room with a Boardwalk that has great night time entertainment and great location to EPCOT and MGM (my favorite parks). Then add the lake from WLV right behind the resort for some great watersports and a beach. I'd also take Artist Point, one of my favorite restaurants, and add it to the mix. And since I am in a dream world, boat service on the lake could take you right to MK. My husband would add SAB as the main pool area with Hurricane Hanna's and their great frozen drinks. I love to lay by the pool, but I find SAB a bit crowded and not too relaxing. I guess that I would add it if only members were using it. OK, I just woke up!:D

All the suggetsions so far sound wonderful, but I really hope DVC never builds anywhere like that because we'd ALL want to stay there all the time! ;)

I think that part of the attrcation of DVC is that we get such a great choice of different places with different plusses and minuses for each of them. I think it adds to the 'fun' to weigh up the pros and cons to decide where we want to stay next time :)

Vive la difference!

You said it Hilary. But of course, in my dream world there are always availabilities.:D

That's funny DeeP, I was going to add the WL's lobby but couldn't figure out how to fit it in OKW's check-in area ;)

Well said Hilary. We are starting to try them all for variety.:)

My dream is if they made a DVC in conjunction with the Poly. Now you are talking

I'd have to agree with you on that one sgtpet! Maybe they could add it on to the Great Ceremonial House....ahhh I would be in heaven :D

I think this thread should be e-mailed to DVC so they can plan accordingly when they build Eagle Pines and the new ones at DI. The location thing can't change for those, but perhaps the other issues can. I doubt we will ever see point schedules like OKW, since the cost of the new resorts is soaring.

We toured the Shell Vacation Club group while in Hawaii (on a DVC exchange) last week, and their costs are soaring too. The interesting thing there is that you can stay in any of thier Hawaii resorts as a "home resort" if you own at any of their Hawaii properties. I think I will look for a reasonable resale!:D

While I like the ideas of OKW size units at BWV location, I'd also want the studio/2nd bedrooms to have the BWV type of set up - queen bed and sofa bed. I'd also want some sort of nightstand, table, or even a shelf, on BOTH sides of the queen bed. Just someplace where DH and I can each put our glasses and an alarm clock - neither of us can see to the other side of the bed without our glasses. :rolleyes:

While I'm dreaming, let's make the entire resort non-smoking. :D

Oh, one thing I'd like to add is a 1BR that sleeps five (5) 'legally'. Or maybe:

Studio = 4
1BR = 6
2BR = 8
GV = 12

Make sense?
