IF you could choose a Beach Cottage, Which one would you choose??

There is also the option of booking the weekends on cash. I have an extra night reserved on cash with the member discount for April (Regular Season). I called about 10 months out to ask and they had both weekends available. Still pricey but a lot better then the number of points needed.

Agreed... We have booked cash for Friday and/or Saturday... never did we not get the rooms we were hoping for... All things considered, we appreciated not having to use points. So where is starbox? Something is wrong. Sorry to be so... negative. Maybe I'm a thread killer...

As reported on the VB chair lovers thread..

Rack Rates 2007

Value Season (Jan 1-31/Aug 12-Dec 19) $745

Regular Season (April 15-May 30) and Summer Season (May 31-August 11) $925

Peak Season (Feb 1-March 24) $1015

Holiday Season (March 25-April 14 and December 20-31) $1135

Fall looks like a great time to stay in a BC!

Thanx, Lisa. It looks like once again I didn't read the thread carefully.. :headache:

Anyway, I just BRIEFLY looked at some numbers, and paying cash didn't make sense to me.
I suppose if you only visit VB now and then you wouldn't want to invest in points, but for those of us who visit often it's better to purchase points.

The one scenario I looked at was a cottage in May. With tax a cottage will be roughly $1,000, but will cost 45 or 112 points.
That means you are paying more than $22/pt for weekdays, and almost $9/pt for a weekend.
My VB points cost me about $7.50 per use.

What am I missing?? :confused3

No problem. Those rates were not formatted well the first time. Very hard to read.

Were you taking in the Member discount in your calculations??

For our trip in April it's Regular Season with a rack rate of $925 (2007). Minus the 25% member discount it's $694. Plus tax.... how much is tax in VB? 11%??? If 11% tax, it's then $770 per night. For the weekends that night would have been 150 points. That's $5.13 per point. That's a few pennies less then the $5.63 paid in dues.

Now for the weekdays it's $12.82 per point. Not such a good deal but not terribly unreasonable instead of renting points. You get a nice cancellation policy too!

With the lower point costs in May but same cash price it might not be as attractive. May be there is a slightly lower Summer rack rate as well and it just didn't get posted.

Any way you slice it, a BC is expensive, but ohhh so great!!!:cloud9:

With the member discount it would be $6.88 for the weekends and $17.11 for the weekdays. The weekends are definitely an option with a member discount.

Thanx Lisa. You are correct... facotoring in the discount does make a difference.

One of these visits we are going to rent a cottage and just invite our DISboard friends for a party... Whose in??
