if you could buy one piece of photo equipment, money no object what would it be?

I cannot believe how many of y'all have these smokers. :confused3 I just cruise on down to the local bbq place for mine. Delicious, much less trouble and mess, and more disposable income to be spent on camera equipment. ;)

You have obviously not tought of what it cost to purchase bbq vs make your own.

Plus i have never found a bbq place that makes better bbq than I do, some are pretty good, but not better to me than what I make.

See, I've never been able to make anything better than a decent restaurant. :rotfl2: I'm rather hopeless in the kitchen. Right now, my kids' oatmeal is probably burning and sticking to the bottom of the pan. :lmao:

unfortunately "BBq" by us is usually really broiled meat drowned in open pit sauce:rotfl:

our kids gave us a little smoker a couple yrs back for our anniversary and while it's definitely not top of the line it gets the job done...think it was $50 or so. but it works best when the temp outside is far above the 21 degrees it is now :) i'm surprised none of the texans are in on this...best bbq i ever had was when we lived there, there was an ox roast type thing every yr( i was a mere babe but i remember how good it was) different than the NC BBQ which comes in second( but closer to get)

I'm kind of with you on this. However, I have learned that if I don't question DH on his Bbq purchases, he doesn't question me on my camera stuff. I quickly learned that the bbq thing is as bad as a DSLR. I actually bought DH his smoker as an anniversary present and thought that he would be set. Oh, was I wrong! Talk about accessories! I never knew it was so complicated. Gotta agree with Master on this though - nothing is as good as your own bbq!

Dh and I do make a pulled pork bbq from a recipe in the Weber Big Book of Grilling that is delicious. It claims to be a "western Carolina" bbq sauce. We love it. Maybe we're missing out. It never occurred to me to smoke our own meat, but like I said, I can't imagine going to all that trouble.

if you ever go to roadfood.com it has a whole bunch of links to NC BBQ places...we have been know to detour a fw hrs on vacation just to go to one or two.....but maybe i'm just compulsive about everything:rotfl:

Dh has golf and skiing to balance out my camera stuff. I figure the two ski trips he's taken this winter alone are enough to justify my D300. :lmao: That's good financial sense, isn't it? ;)

I'm going to check that out. We're headed on a western road trip this summer and I hate fast food. Maybe I'll find some interesting places to stop.

Ahh.. money is overrated anyways.

You can't take it with you!
