If you cash out of rewards programs for Amazon GC/eCodes - what do you do with them?

Ok, I just cashed out $5 for an Amazon GC (eCode) from QuickRewards yesterday. I got it in my email almost instantly (yea!) but now I'm unsure what to do with it. I was planning to just start cashing out of programs for the Amazon GC/eCodes and stack them up for present buying later in the year. Do I need to hold all the codes until I get ready to buy something, then input just enough codes to cover it? Does anyone enter them and let them sit in their Amazon account? If I let them sit will it automatically deduct from them when I order something (say I order my mom a book that she is giving me money for, I'd rather it not pull from the GC's to pay for the book. I know I could just drop her money in a fund to pay for the presents or whatever later but that is really more moving around than I'd like to do.) Should I open a gmail and set up an Amazon account with it and just use it for GC purchases?

I put mine in my Amazon account as soon as I get the code. When you buy something and are ready to check out, you have the option to choose your gc balance (default) or pay another way. It feels safer to me to have the codes inputted than keeping track of emails and codes and such.

Thank you, that was the answer I needed. You're right, I'd rather have them already loaded vs having to have a bunch of $5 codes to keep up with until I needed them. I just wasn't sure if you could get around using them, but you answered that for me.

So each time you enter a code it adds that amount to your balance, right? Is there a limit to how many you can store at once?

I don't think that there is a limit. I had over $100 stored. I just used them to get Easter presents for my kids 4 DVD and 4 Wii games. WAY more than they usually get in their basket but I had the GC in the account so I figured why not?

I also input the codes as soon as I get them, and just let them accumulate in my amazon account until I have enough for what I want. I never use them for very cheap things, so I need them to collect for awhile. Last year some of the things I got for free with codes are a Leapster Explorer & case for DS, a VTech Mobigo & case for DD, and a Flip SlideHD video camera. This year I got a Canon Powershot camera. Right now I'm saving for a Kindle, and I have about $80 in the account.

I put the codes into my amazon account and let it build all year and use it to get christmas gifts.
